Assistant Superintendent/Project Engineer

Job Description

The Assistant Superintendent/Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the superintendent and Project Manager with all field activities related to the physical construction of the project, including safety, work procedures, productivity, quality and regular company personnel and project specific temporary personnel.

Responsibilities

• Assist Superintendent to prepare, all construction project schedules/activities among subcontractors and other individuals/companies involved with the project.
• Assist Superintendent with maintaining accurate and up to date project documentation, including drawings, specifications and daily reports. Prepare and submit required paperwork, such as daily reports, change orders and RFI’s.
• Assist Superintendent in project safety and ensure all workers on site are complying with safety requirements and the project safety plan.
• Assist in coordinating and overseeing construction activities, including material procurement, subcontractor management, and on-site inspections.
• Coordinate with the Superintendent to develop and administer the site utilization program, site services, safety plan, and security arrangements necessary for the project.
• Assist Superintendent in monitoring actual versus required performance by all parties and determine whether subcontractors are providing a sufficient workforce and hours of work to achieve performance commitments.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of subcontractors' scope of work and contract terms and effectively communicate these to field personnel.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, thereby promoting a secure and productive work environment.
• Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in organizing site meetings, including Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC), Foreman, and CSI Team meetings.
• Assist in the preparation of project close-out documents, encompassing as-built drawings, warranties, video training sessions, and operation manuals.
• Responsible that all fieldwork is performed with a high standard of quality and in an efficient manner.
• Perform punch lists on finished projects

Skills and Qualifications:

• Candidates must have strong organizational and leadership skills with a commitment to safety.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Required Education:

• High school Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
• Bachelors degree in Construction Management preferred

Compensation

• $55k-70K Annually depending on experience
