What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at CSI Construction?
Job Summary:
An Estimator analyzes blueprints, specifications, and project details to calculate the estimated costs of a construction project, including materials, labor, and time required, by creating detailed cost breakdowns to determine a competitive bid for potential clients
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Researching the cost of items such as materials, transport, labor and equipment
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with subcontractors and vendors
- Manage and review drawings
- Complete takeoff’s
- Build construction schedules
- Review subcontractor proposals
- Work with subcontractors for value engineering ideas and pricing within a specified time frame
- Write and respond to request for information.
- Performs other duties as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- The ability to work under pressure to meet set goals, budgets and deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suites including Excel, Project and Word
- The ability to read plans and develop cost estimates
- The ability to manage time well and multitask
- Strong understanding of the construction process
- Analytical skills
- Attention to detail
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, building science or engineering or a minimum of 5 years of construction labor/and or estimating experience in lieu of degree
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Work Hours:
- Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm
Pay
- $62,000 - $100,000 annually
