Crew Openings – Linemen & Foremen Needed
CSI Powerline is seeking skilled Overhead distribution crews for the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical overhead distribution systems. These positions require travel based on customer demands and involve working in various locations.
Schedule:
- Monday – Thursday (4 days)
- 10-hour shifts per day
- Foreman: $61.00/hour
- A Lineman: $58.00/hour
- B Lineman: $48.00/hour
- C Lineman: $32.50/hour
- Groundman: $21.00/hour
- Per Diem: $135.00/day
- CDL: 3 Needed
- Eligibility Requirement: Candidates must not have worked on the Duke system in the last 60 days.
Essential Functions:
General Responsibilities
- Safely perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de-energized overhead systems.
- String overhead wires, set poles, and install anchors.
- Install transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
- Troubleshoot primary and secondary systems, replacing cutout fuses and clearing faults.
- Work with energized high-voltage systems, ensuring safety for oneself and others.
- Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in proper working condition.
- Perform physically demanding labor, including climbing structures (wood, steel, etc.).
- Identify primary and secondary voltage on circuits and understand grounding procedures.
- Properly install and remove PPE and protective cover-ups.
- Plan and execute safe work based on job prints or work orders.
- Conduct pre-job or tailgate briefings effectively.
- Safely perform reconductoring jobs and install/remove mechanical jumpers.
- Utilize load-bust tools and phase out lines using phasing sticks.
- Work in various weather conditions, including inclement weather.
Additional Responsibilities for Foreman:
- Coach and train crew members in safe and productive work procedures.
- Lead and supervise crew members, ensuring job efficiency and adherence to safety protocols.
- Conduct inspections of crew work and provide feedback for improvement.
- Teach and oversee hot stick work on energized lines.
- Properly sag wire and phase a circuit through a substation.
- Identify and locate puller and tensioner setups.
- Ensure proper flagging and tagging procedures are followed.
- Operate equipment safely and oversee proper use by crew members.
- Obtain and follow line clearances as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Five years of recent field experience.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Foreman: Experience leading crews and coordinating work.
- Linemen: Strong technical expertise in overhead distribution systems.
- CDL preferred (ability to obtain a permit within 60 days required).
- Ability to travel long distances and work extended periods as needed.
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs. and properly inspect rubber goods and PPE.
- Availability for overtime, including weekends and holidays.
- Willingness to work with live high-voltage distribution power lines.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, handle objects, and reach with hands and arms.
- Work may involve exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
- Frequently exposed to extreme weather conditions and loud work environments at construction sites.
