Job Summary: As a Tec, you will support the construction, maintenance, and repair of powerline systems. Your role is crucial in assisting linemen and ensuring that all operations are conducted safely and efficiently. You will be responsible for a range of tasks, from handling tools and materials to ensuring the worksite is safe and organized.
Key Responsibilities:
Assisting Linemen:
- Help linemen with the installation, maintenance, and repair of powerlines and related equipment.
- Prepare and handle tools, materials, and equipment required for various tasks.
- Operate and assist with the use of machinery such as diggers, trucks, and cranes.
Worksite Safety:
- Ensure that all safety protocols and procedures are followed on-site.
- Set up and maintain safety barriers, warning signs, and other safety equipment.
- Conduct routine checks to ensure that the work area is safe and free from hazards.
Material Handling:
- Load, unload, and transport materials and equipment to and from the job site.
- Organize and store tools, equipment, and materials efficiently and securely.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on tools and equipment.
- Keep equipment in good working order and report any issues to supervisors.
Communication:
- Communicate effectively with linemen, supervisors, and other team members.
- Report any problems or issues that arise during the workday.
Documentation:
- Assist in documenting work completed, including any issues encountered.
- Maintain accurate records of materials used and work performed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a similar role or in the construction/utility industry is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and powerline components is a plus.
- Ability to operate machinery and tools safely and efficiently.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
- Good physical condition and ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs or more).
- Comfortable working at heights and in various environmental conditions.
- Ability to perform physical tasks for extended periods.
Work Environment:
- Outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Potential exposure to high voltage and hazardous conditions.
