About the Role
At CSL Plasma, we are committed to ensuring that people with rare and serious diseases are able to live normal, healthy lives. As a Medical Screener, you will play a crucial role in our mission by greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting a series of registration procedures to verify donor suitability for the plasma pheresis process.
You will report to the Assistant Center Manager and work closely with other team members to ensure a smooth and efficient donation process.
Responsibilities
- Assist qualified donors in completing the screening process, which includes assessing self-administered health history, answering basic medical questions associated with the donation process, and referring donors to medical staff when appropriate.
- Perform health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature, as well as finger sticks to obtain samples for hematocrit and total protein levels.
- Educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma, including explaining the screening process, health screening tests performed, appointment system, donation fees, center policies, proper nutrition, and any other information pertinent to the donor.
- Register applicant and transfer donors based upon completion of appropriate training and operational needs of the center.
- Answer telephone calls and respond to customer inquiries or transfer calls to appropriate staff members.
- Maintain alertness and awareness to any reaction by a donor may have during or after the pheresis process and notify appropriate staff.
- Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
- Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system.
Requirements
We are looking for individuals with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of three (3) months experience in a clerical or customer service related position, preferably in medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to perform basic math calculations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
