As a Traveling Medical Collector, you will be responsible for the collection of plasma from donors, performing venipuncture, monitoring the pheresis process, and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). You will also be expected to evaluate vein performance, identify possible problems, and make necessary corrections to expedite donation time while ensuring product quality and donor safety.
In this role, you will explain the screening process, health screening tests performed, appointment system, donation fees, center policies, proper nutrition, and other pertinent information to donors. You will also use a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents that occur during the pheresis process, troubleshoot equipment failures, and create incident documentation.
**Responsibilities:**
- Perform all aspects of the pheresis procedure and plasma collection, including donor set-up, donor monitoring, and donor disconnect
- Evaluate vein performance to identify possible problems and make necessary corrections
- Use a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents that occur during the pheresis process
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and create incident documentation
**Requirements:**
- Minimum 18 months experience in a medical or healthcare environment preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens
