SUMMARY:
 
The Project Director is responsible for ensuring field project management is performed in a manner consistent with established processes.  This position manages all aspects of their projects and client relationship ensuring schedule, cost, safety, quality, and milestone objectives are achieved. Identification of field operational solutions that will improve productivity is also part of the responsibilities. This position oversees the implementation of best practices in the field that are likely to make the overall project management process more efficient. In conjunction with Team Execution, this position creates and tracks the KPIs necessary to drive the advancement of field operational activities.

The Project Director directly supports project team leadership, serves as a technical resource to field staff, assists in managing safety processes, and seeks to improve overall technical performance in field operations. This position provides leadership, technical/safety knowledge and expertise, and training in field project management.

This position reports to the Sr. VP for administrative purposes but closely collaborates with the Safety Director, Director of Pre-Construction Services, and other Project Directors to coordinate program efforts and outcomes.

This is a full-time FLSA non-exempt position. The position requires 40 work hours per week with the ability to work more if necessary.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Training & Development (10%)
    • Assesses competency of field personnel and provides training
    • Assists in the onboarding process for new field personnel
    • Monitors field staff performance and makes recommendations for additional training
    • Develop training programs for the improvement of all field personnel
    • Design training for all levels of field employees
    • Assists in the content development for PM/PE meetings & training
  • Safety Guidance & Expertise (20%)
    • Represents the Safety Director while on site to oversee the Safety Program
    • Conducts and/or coordinates on-site reviews and audits of safety protocol at all job sites
    • Assists the process for post-incident investigations and lessons learned
    • Performs site safety audits using inspection checklists and photos to provide a comprehensive report to field personnel
  • Project Management Process Oversight 60%)
    • Manages client relations
    • Works with the team to ensure project schedules are maintained and milestone dates are achieved
    • Manages the project budget and ensures profit margins are achieved
    • Ensures that projects are properly staffed and managed according to CSM standards
    • Understands and manages project owner contracts
    • Supports PMs with managing trade contractors to their contract obligations
    • Has read, understands, and manages the project manual for each of their projects
    • Serves as a technical resource for PMs
    • Ensures compliance with QA/QC program procedures
    • Performs periodic audits of on-site project documentation
    • Ensures standards for project pre-construction planning, site logistics planning, project set-up, and project close-out are followed
    • Assists the preconstruction department and drives the pre-construction effort
    • Supports the sales effort when submitting proposals for pursuits
  • Staffing Reviews & Support (10%)
    • Assists in the planning and organizing of key field staffing to accommodate specific project requirements
    • Monitors the distribution of execution staff
    • Provides job-site coverage for PMs in training and/or PTO absences
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • 4-year degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or equivalent
  • 10 years of field experience in a construction project management role
  • OSHA 30
  • Microsoft Office Suite of products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or Safety Trained Supervisor (STS)

While performing this job, the employee may be regularly required to drive to and from the job sites/assigned locations, sit, walk, stand, talk, hear, and smell. A major portion of the employees’ tasks requires extensive walking around the job site, including active construction areas. The employee is required to traverse uneven terrain and work from ladders, scaffolds, and other structures, as well as work at variable heights. The employee is frequently required to use hands to handle tools; controls, and fine motor coordination like computer work. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

For Field positions, while performing this job, the employee must frequently inspect the project site and may be exposed to ongoing construction activities, vibrations, noise, and various outside weather conditions (in all seasons). The work environment involves moderate risks which may require safety precautions. The noise level in the work environment may range from quiet to loud. The proper use of Personnel Protective Equipment (including but not limited to safety boots, hard hats, and protective eyewear) is required on the job site.
