Engineer Intern II - Transportation
Job Description
The Engineer Intern II is responsible for day-to-day support to the Project Engineer. This role will perform both technical and administrative duties to assist with overall project management and conclusion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides technical, day to day, design support to the Project Engineer including drafting support for plan production activities
- Progresses toward learning how to clearly convey the design intent through engineering drawings and specifications.
- Assigns tasks to and coordinates with cad technicians or administrative staff
- Analyzes topographic survey data
- Continues to develop a knowledge of the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully to operating systems.
- Performs technical reports and cost estimates
- Performs hydrologic and hydraulic design calculations
- Develops an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering plans and specifications into constructed product
- Performs drainage design and sanitary sewer design
- Performs construction administration tasks
- Analyzes horizontal and vertical geometry
- Models roadway corridors
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering & passed FE exam
Experience: 2 years using MicroStation and InRoads, PowerInRoads, and/or OpenRoads for transportation design.
Core Competencies
- Knows and applies basic concepts and techniques of the profession
- Ability to relate to client needs and associates within all levels of the firm, possess excellent organization and communication skills
Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of various design software such as: HEC-RAS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD, HYDRWIN, MicroStation and InRoads, PowerInRoads, and OpenRoads
