Associate Financial Analyst/Accounting Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Specialist with a strong accounting and/or finance background to join our team. The Financial Analyst will play a critical role in evaluating transactions, conducting financial analyses, and providing strategic insights to support underground utility projects and overall company performance. This role requires a strong understanding of basic accounting principles, proficiency in financial modeling, and advanced spreadsheet capabilities. Key Responsibilities: Project Financial Analysis:

• Evaluate job cost reports and determine appropriate corrective actions when variances occur.
  
  

Accounting Support:

• Review financial transactions and apply correct accounting entries in compliance with company policies.
• Assist in the preparation of accurate income statements and other financial documents.
  
  

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Collaborate with project managers to monitor project costs and identify trends.
  
  

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

• Prepare detailed reports and dashboards, providing insights into project and company performance.
  
  

Spreadsheet and Modeling Proficiency:

• Create and manage Excel-based financial models, utilizing advanced functionality such as formulas, pivot tables, and forecasting tools.
• Support data analysis and scenario planning using spreadsheet applications.
  
  

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Degree in Accounting and/or Finance (or related field).
• Experience:
• Prior experience (2 years) in accounting or financial analysis, preferably within the construction industry.

Accounting Knowledge:

• Strong grasp of basic accounting principles and ability to evaluate and apply appropriate accounting entries.
• Experience with financial statements, forecasting, and transaction analysis.
  
  

Technical Skills:

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas and pivot tables.
• Knowledge of QuickBooks
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
