What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Concrete Finisher position at CST Utilities?
About the role:
We are looking to hire an experienced concrete finisher who expertly pours level and smooth concrete on a variety of surfaces including roads, sidewalks, curbs, and floors. You may also be required to set the forms. To be a successful concrete finisher, you must possess the skills necessary for the trade and be familiar with the latest concrete pouring technology.
Job Responsibilities:
- Setting forms that hold concrete in place.
- Cleaning and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues.
- Directing the casting of the concrete with with truck driver.
- Pouring, smoothing, and leveling concrete using a rake, trowel, float and screed. This includes handheld tools and power tool versions.
- Monitoring the effects of the weather on the curing process.
- Applying sealing and hardeining components.
- Safely operating power vibrator to ensure the concrete is compacted.
- Polishing surface using a power surfacing machine.
- Molding and constructing expanison joints.
- Will be responsible for maintaining logs, fueling vehicles, and stocking their work vehicle with supplies.
- Must always maintain working equipment.
- Technician will be expected to be on time and complete service calls promptly.
- Follow instructions from supervisors.
- Ready to learn from on-the-job training when necessary.
- Perform site clean-up.
- Travels to and from job sites
- Loads and unloads materials on the truck.
- Performs all phases of general and underground construction including but not limited to loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various types, sizes, and weights of construction materials and equipment.
- Restores and repairs all disturbed property.
- Always maintain safe working habits/conditions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Three years' experience as a concrete finisher
- A positive can-do attitude and openness to trying things in new ways.
- Experience in the telecommunications or underground utilities industry is a plus.
- Working knowledge of basic hand tools and mechanical equipment
- Ability to travel to wherever the job is needed.
- A valid driver’s license and must be insurable.
- Be able to pass a pre-employment background and drug screen.
Work Environment:
- Must be able and willing to conduct strenuous and physically demanding tasks for long hours, work outdoors, and in inclement weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift and carry materials of all shapes and sizes, weighing 40 to 90 pounds.
- Must be able to maintain visual and audible contact with other crewmen and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement.
- Must be able to operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl while performing work.
- Must be able to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hard hats, and any applicable safety gear.
