Job Overview
The Water Line Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for water line installation, repair, and replacement projects. This role involves analyzing project plans, understanding customer requirements, and collaborating with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure successful project delivery within budget and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine the scope of work.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to gather necessary data for estimating.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Solicit and analyze bids from vendors and subcontractors.
- Coordinate with project managers and engineers to clarify project requirements and address potential challenges.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, contractors, and clients.
- Identify potential risks and develop strategies to minimize cost overruns.
- Ensure all estimates comply with company policies, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, revisions, and project outcomes.
- Provide input on value engineering and cost-saving measures.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in estimating, preferably in water line or utility construction.
- Strong knowledge of water line installation methods, materials, and equipment.
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar software is a plus.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to water line construction projects.
