The Colorado State University (CSU) System, along with its partners, has developed a unique and exciting public facility called CSU Spur at the National Western Center in Denver, Colorado. The CSU Spur campus houses three buildings focused on water, food and agriculture, human and animal health, and sustainability. Within the Spur buildings, CSU conducts research and convenes experts from around the globe; students of all ages engage with science and have opportunities for exploratory learning, transforming their thinking about food, water, and health, and the careers available in these fields; and partners join in programming the space and bringing evolving content to the year-round campus. CSU Spur is part of a larger 250-acre redevelopment project, which started in 2013 and reimagines what the National Western Center can be, creates a site that will support the National Western Stock Show long-term, and makes the location a year-round destination. CSU Spur was created with an Anchor Institution framework and is committed to supporting the surrounding communities through the programming and activities developed at the campus.

The Colorado State University (CSU) System is thrilled to announce an opening for anOutreach Facilitator at the Spur campus, located at the National Western Center in Denver, CO. This role is crucial for building and nurturing community relationships and serving as a vibrant representative of CSU Spur at various events. The Facilitator will work primarily outside the CSU Spur campus during afternoons and weekends, engaging with community members at various events, from school science nights to significant festivals such as the Western Stock Show. - Effectively communicating the mission of CSU Spur.
- Engaging with the public through interactive activities.
- Distribute informational materials to promote awareness and engagement with our programs.
- At least 1 year of experience in community engagement, outreach, education, or a similar field involving public interaction.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to engage with diverse community members, partner organizations, and team members.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail for event setup, outreach activities, and coordination.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic event environment.
- Basic computer skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Interest in community engagement and a desire to learn and grow within a mission-driven organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, education, community development, or a related field.
- Bilingual proficiency: Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish (reading and writing)
- Experience with public events: Familiarity with tabling at events, including setting up educational displays and interactive activities.
- Cultural competence and community knowledge: Understanding of the needs and dynamics of diverse communities and the ability to foster inclusive engagement.
- Knowledge of community programs and resources relevant to the organization’s mission.
