What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Teacher position at CSUMC Preschool?
The preschool teacher will be responsible for the direct supervision of a class of children as well as planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, creative, and patient. S/he will create a safe and nurturing environment for children to best foster their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. The Preschool Teacher must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns.
Duties
� Provide a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for preschoolers and their families.
� Effectively collaborate with others daily including assistant teachers and classroom volunteers.
� Maintain frequent and positive communication with parents and caregivers through informal discussions and parent-teacher conferences.
� Participate in ongoing professional development (12 hours annually) as required by the state and CSUMC Preschool.
� Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and employ a variety of play-based educational strategies.
� Observe and track children?s progress and development and communicate areas of strength and concern to parents and caregivers.
� Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
� Demonstrate professional and ethical behaviors and work habits when in contact with children, parents, and staff members.
Requirements
� Must possess at minimum a high school diploma or GED and be at least 18 years old.
� Experience working in childcare or other educational setting is required.
� Strong understanding of child development and best practices in early childhood education.
� Ability to respond quickly to the physical and emotional needs of children.
� Must clear a full background check and pass a health screening.
� Must have Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain certification.
Nice To Haves
� CDA, Associate's degree or certificate in Early Childhood Education or related field is preferred.
