Position Summary
The Architectural Drafter will be responsible for preparing technical shop drawings for various architectural projects based on specifications and architectural plans. The Architectural Drafter will review plans and coordinates with internal stakeholders to meet project specifications, complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets.
Responsibilities
- Reading architectural plans to determine type and extent of products required on each project
- Preparing a complete set of shop drawings using AutoCAD for submittal to the project stakeholders as well as for use in fabrication
- Communicating with contractors, architects, and installers to coordinate drawings with field conditions
- Maintaining and implementing all supplemental documents and correspondence into shop drawings
- Tracking changes of projects through revisions
- Coordination of project materials with multiple departments
- Perform other duties as needed
Additional Responsibilities for Senior Project Detailer
- Provide technical expertise to other Project Detailers and customers
- This role will be assigned to work on projects that are more technically complex
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic knowledge of Project Management
- Knowledge of Project Management principles
- Strong math skills
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and the ability to apply related concepts
Experience
- 1-3 years of hands-on drafting/detailing experience in architectural or construction industry
- 1 or more years of experience in a role where reading blueprints was a requirement
- 1 or more years of AutoCAD experience required
- Senior roles should have 3 years of experience in all of the above areas
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Certification or two-year degree in Drafting or similar field of study preferred
