CMVS Practice Summary: CMVS is a growing and busy mobile veterinary practice located in central Connecticut. Our practice is expanding and thus we are in need of highly motivated individuals that take pride in their work and are looking for variety in their daily tasks. The candidate must be able to adapt to changes in priorities and be able to multi-task.
Job Position: Veterinary Technician
Position Summary: The technician is responsible for providing excellent client and patient care when working with the CMVS Veterinarian or independently. The technician’s veterinary skill set must be comparable to a certified veterinary technician level. Salary compensation is commensurate with experience. This position is either part time or full time.

Job Requirements: The CMVS veterinary technician must meet the following work experience and education criteria.
1. Prior experienced as a veterinary technician; two years preferred
2. High school graduate minimum.
3. Must be customer service oriented. Must be able to easily interact with customers and convey patient information in a calm and clear manner. Excellent client communication and telephone skills. Must effectively be able to read, speak, and write legibly in English.
4. Must have basic computer skills: Microsoft Office; be able to learn veterinary practice software applications.
5. Able to handle multiple unrelated tasks simultaneously while working in a busy environment.
6. Must be able to lift 40 pounds and follow OSHA guidelines that apply to the CMVS practice.
7. Employee must be able to work well independently and with other CMVS staff.
8. All aforementioned requirements are subject to change by the employer at any time.
Technician Duties: The routine CMVS technical tasks are listed below. This task list is not all-inclusive and thus may be modified based on the needs of the CMVS practice and clients.
1. Travel with CMVS veterinarian; answer phone, respond to client questions and take messages. Make and adjust appointments as needed per input from CMVS veterinarian.
2. Review vaccination records and prepare vaccines according to CMVS protocol.
3. Assist CMVS veterinarian in medical procedures using proper restraint.
4. Assist CMVS veterinarian in surgical procedures using proper aseptic technique.
5. Maintain and use medical equipment as per manufacturer’s instructions.
6. Ensure supply inventories are adequate and are ordered in a timely manner to ensure the stock is sufficient.
7. Perform routine laboratory procedures as needed.
8. Prepare samples for outside laboratory analysis.
9. Administer injections, place intravenous (IV) catheters, perform venipuncture, take vital signs of animal and monitor anesthesia during surgery.
10. Administer treatments and injections following the instructions of a CMVS veterinarian or as written on a treatment form. Technician must be able to give treatments and medications intravenously, orally, and subcutaneously.
11. Initiate emergency procedures.
12. Maintain in a timely manner pharmacy records, controlled drug, anesthesia, fecal, and heartworm test logs.
13. Take Dental radiographs.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.
