Position Summary :
The Compliance Specialist provides confidential, technical, and professional level support to the CT State organizational compliance framework in achieving compliance efficiencies in alignment with legal standards and internal policies, assists with identifying and addressing institutional risks, and establishing the highest ethical standards of conduct in accordance with the state’s Code of Ethics.
Example of Job Duties :
Under the direction of the CT State Compliance Officer, the Compliance Specialist is responsible for effective performance in these essential duties :
- Monitors and ensures compliance with state regulatory requirements and CSCU policies.
- Conducts detailed compliance audits and assessments to identify potential compliance risks.
- Develops and implements compliance policies and procedures.
- Provides training and support to employees on compliance-related matters.
- Investigates complex compliance issues and complaints in light of state statutes and regulations and makes recommendations to the Compliance Officer.
- Assists the Compliance Officer in developing and implementing an effective CT Statewide Compliance Plan that will identify and address the college’s federal, state and local compliance reporting obligations in the areas of Academic & Student Affairs, Accessibility, statutory requirements, administration and records retention, student financial aid, and Institutional Advancement.
- Assists the Compliance Officer with Freedom of Information requests for CT State and collaborates with System Office Legal Affairs on responses.
- Assists the Compliance Officer in records management as the Records Management Liaison Officer.

Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in a related field with three (3) or more years of experience providing compliance or investigatory administrative support or conducting compliance audits; OR
Completion of a Paralegal or Legal Assistance Certificate Program approved by the American Bar Association and three (3) years of experience providing paraprofessional legal assistance.
Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following :
Candidates must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. They are expected to have excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.).

Starting Salary :
Minimum Salary; $73,940 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. The salary will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications such as education and job-related experience, and internal equity.
