Position Summary :
The Associate Director of Development & Communications collaborates closely with the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement, the Executive Director of the Foundation, and the Director of Institutional Advancement. This position has primary leadership responsibility for major department functions, particularly in fundraising and communications. The Associate Director of Development & Communications supervises staff and student workers and assists with activities related to assigned tasks and projects. The Associate Director of Development & Communications is expected to have substantial relationships with community members, donors, administrators, and staff.
Example of Job Duties :
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement and / or the Executive Director of the MCC Foundation, the Associate Director of Development & Communications is accountable for contributing to the objectives of the Division of Institutional Advancement :
- Annual Giving : Provide leadership for creation and execution of a comprehensive annual giving and communications plan for the College and Foundation. Provide recommendations for plan to Foundation board and committees. Leads the design, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the college’s first comprehensive, 12- month annual giving program. This program is the foundation of the fundraising program and the pipeline for future major gifts. Provides ongoing evaluation, analysis, and improvement to achieve required outcomes.
- Communications Plan : Responsible for the design, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of a comprehensive communications program for the foundation and department. Responsible for strategic messaging and targeting communications to segmented constituencies within the college / foundation’s 25,000 constituents. This work requires oversight of database integrations with various technological platforms to distribute messages and maintain the accuracy of data.
- Project Management : Oversee logistics and details of overlapping projects including preparation of software tools that must be synced to messages for the accurate flow of data, establishing coding formats, designing and implementing acknowledgement mechanisms, and organizing task assignments and workflow.
- Prospect Management and Donor Relations : Manage a donor prospect pool including research, qualification, rating, communications, personal visits, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Develops and sustains meaningful relationships with foundation directors, donors, alumni leaders, and other external stakeholders. Utilizes these relationships for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors. Management of this large portfolio of relationships inside and outside the institution utilizing significant interpersonal communication skills.
- Data Management : Propose and implement policies and procedures for data management to ensure integrity of database, identify opportunities to improve administrative efficiencies, and implement solutions. Collect and analyze data and prepare findings and recommendations to Dean and Foundation leaders. Produces reports and analyzes data to demonstrate growth in key performance areas, particularly around fundraising and communications.

Minimum Qualifications :
Master’s degree in an appropriately related field together with one (1) or more years of related experience together with up to two years of supervisory experience; or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.

Salary : 47.24 hourly.
