Works under the direction of the Director of Information Technology. Responsible for providing a full range of support for the technical assistance to CTtransit computers systems users. Answer questions or resolve computer problems for users in person, via phone or from a remote location. Provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, e-mail, desktop applications and phone system. Perform installation of operating system, applications, and management of operating system software. Monitor for and assist in the removal of viruses in the computing environment. Prepare new computer systems or upgrade current systems as needed. Maintain an accurate inventory for computer systems company wide. Perform all other duties as may be assigned or requested.1. Analyze, diagnose, resolve or coordinate the resolution of problems related to personal computer hardware, operating system or application software while demonstrating good customer service skills.
2. Install and support hardware peripherals, operating systems software and application software for user workstations. Install software updates and patches to ensure that the proper “version level” is maintained.
3. Support user connectivity to CTtransit WAN, setup and terminate user accounts in Microsoft Active Directory and company wide applications.
4. Monitor network backup systems and maintain the system accuracy. Maintain an inventory of computer equipment.
5. Assist in all areas of remote support; provide prompt and efficient technical support to remote workers via various channels such as phone, email, chat, and remote access tools.
6. Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and telecommunication issues and identify root causes. 
7. Guide end-users through step-by-step instructions to resolve technical problems and ensure smooth operations. 
8. Collaborate with other IT team members to escalate and resolve complex issues.
9. Assist in telephony Administration support; Administer and maintain our Cloud telephony system, including user provisioning, configurations, and access controls. 
10. Monitor system performance, identify and address potential issues, and implement improvements to optimize functionality and user experience.
11. Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure system availability, reliability, and security.
12. Conduct regular system audits and maintain accurate documentation of system configurations and changes.
13. Keeps informed on new developments in the field of systems and computer hardware to assure that CTtransit will benefit from the advances in computer-related technology.
14. Attends in-service training, seminars or other opportunities for professional development as made available by the Agency. Provides training for Agency personnel as required. Actively participates in staff meetings, trainings, etc.
15. Has thorough working knowledge of Agency policies and procedures.
16. Work cooperatively with all levels of personnel.
17. Fill in and assist other I.T. Departmental staff as needed.
18. Other duties as assigned.
  1. Minimum possession of associate's degree in computer science, Computer Programming, Data Science or a closely related field and two (2) years of relevant work or technical school experience is required.
  2. An equivalent combination of education and/or additional work experience on a year-for-year basis can be substituted for the degree requirement. 
  3. Ability to learn procedures that require a high degree of responsibility, accuracy, timeliness, and precision.
  4. Experience with Microsoft Windows 10. 8, 7, XP operating systems installation & repair. Experience with WAN Network configurations for servers and desktops. Experience with standard industry desktop, laptop hardware highly desirable.
  5. Experience with Visual Basic, VB.Net or similar development environments and MS SQL query language is a plus.
  6. Proficient in software programs (Microsoft Office software products installation and configuration), Internet applications and utilization of all relevant office equipment. The ability to quickly learn internal software programs.
  7. Valid drivers’ license and the ability to be insured by our insurance company throughout employment. Individual may be required to travel in the course of their daily work.
  8. This position requires the ability to make decisions requiring independent judgment including the setting of priorities for performing work. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.is essential.
  9. Must be able to handle confidential information, manage multiple priorities and have excellent communication skills (especially verbal), interpersonal skills, professionalism, discretion, and diplomacy to work effectively with outside agencies, private vendors, and employees at all levels throughout CT Transit.
