Overall Purpose: Why the Job Exists & What You Will Do: |
As the Transportation Driver Fleet Driver, you will plan, organize, and deliver/pick up high-dollar valued products in an efficient and safe manner over the road for CTB facilities, vendors, and customers in a semi-tractor, straight truck, 1 Ton and trailer or any other configuration. |
Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes: Your Accountabilities in the Role |
- Transport Operation, Compliance, & Safety: 100% of the Job
- Plans, organizes, and moves high-dollar valued products in an efficient and safe manner over the road between CTB facilities, vendors, and customers.
- Facilitates the proper movement, connection and operation of trailers, ensuring safety guidelines are followed.
- Ability to perform all DOT/Company daily reports and driver logs accurately.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks with limited supervision.
- Ability to help load/unload products in a safe manner with proper equipment.
- Responsible for keeping vehicle and work area clean and orderly. When needed clean shop and/or fleet vehicles and other tasks around building/shop
- Ability to install/remove trailer components (sideboards, chains, tarp, load locks, etc.) to ensure a safe and secure load
- Ability to perform all daily maintenance checks reports any mechanical problems with the vehicle to the maintenance team for proactive attention to ensure minimal downtime on trucks, trailers, and equipment.
- Facilitates the proper movement, connection, length of combo, weight, and all other actions for truck and trailer that ensure compliance and safety guidelines are followed.
- Monitors, maintains and updates internal trailer log reporting and fuel tickets to ensure accurate documentation and compliance.

Position Requirements: |
- Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent course work and direct work experience accepted.
- Experience: 2 years of prior Truck driving experience with a safe driving record required.
- Certification: CDL Class A License with a good driving record (0-1 traffic tickets within a 3-year period). Forklift license or Overhead Crane license experience would be a plus; will train the right person.
- Functional Skills: Excellent physical ability and strong safety awareness in moving large loads around various spaces, strong organizational, planning, and prioritizing skills; good problem-solving ability to ensure loads are completed efficiently. Good math skills with a strong sense of urgency required; along with a strong ability to multi-task several projects at one time and meet deadlines.
- Technical Aptitude/PC/Other: Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office required
- Language Skills: Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to work with external vendors and internal partners at all various levels.

Equipment Used: |
- This role occasionally uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- This role routinely operates heavy equipment, vehicles, machinery or general facility equipment as needed.

Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Functions: |
- Ability to sit and operate motorized equipment as needed for the role
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate hand tools/equipment and machinery as needed throughout the day
- Ability to stand for up to 4 hours in one session
- Ability to sit drive 6 hours per day
- Ability to operate keyboard and view computer screen for up to 2 hours per day
- Ability to write ideas/information in a logical flow for 4 hours per day
- Cognitive and reasoning ability to read, review and interpret work orders or processes on a frequent basis
- Ability to read and respond on an on-going basis daily due to nature of the work, throughout the day
- Ability to communicate with others via phone, in-person, and computer on-going
- Ability to listen to customers, problem-solve, and respond accordingly
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
- Ability to bend, reach, kneel, squat, twist, push, pull, stand, sit, walk, stoop, crouch, and carry items frequently
- Lifting up to 50 lbs. sporadically

Environmental Conditions & Travel: |
- The employee is primarily exposed to an outdoor setting with moderate to loud noise, greasy/dirty areas, high heat in the summer or cold in the winter and frequent moving equipment or parts.
- The employee is frequently required to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment while working outside and visiting manufacturing departments.
- The position may face inclement weather when traveling or performing duties outside as needed for the role.
- Travel: Frequent local travel required and flexible hours, some overnight travel.
