What are the responsibilities and job description for the Member Services Technician I position at CTC?
This position will support the day-to-day member and CTC partner member installation of basic voice, internet and video services. The MST I will be able to consult with the CTC's member and CTC's partner members to find acceptable installations solutions and will also suggest additional CTC products and services that would be of benefit to the member.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Knowledge of network management software, concepts and troubleshooting techniques.
- Knowledge of operating systems and network architecture, configuration and protocols.
- Knowledge of network communications theories.
- Knowledge of operating systems, technologies, computer operations and hardware.
- Knowledge of fiber optic installation, splicing and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of industry testing equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot, develop a solution and repair services.
- General understanding of Subnets, Static IP's and VOIP phone systems.
- General understanding of Network Protocols including multi-cast video and DHCP.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Knowledge of Analog and Digital video systems.
- Knowledge of basic electronics, specification sheets, and circuit diagrams.
- Knowledge of telecommunications plant equipment operations and maintenance.
- Knowledge of company products and services.

- Skill in operating service equipment including various hand tools and testing equipment.

Education and Experience :
MST I - Requires certification of completion of telecommunications courses from a technical college and / or the equivalent in experience. Requires basic knowledge of voice, internet, and video installation processes. Entry level position with 2 years' experience / or education. Must possess a valid Minnesota driver's license.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to see; hear; talk; grasp; feel and finger equipment to complete assigned job tasks. This position requires full range of mobility in upper and lower body; be able to walk and stand for long periods of time and perform under adverse field conditions. The employee is regularly required to be able to sit, lift, climb, stoop, kneel, pull and push. The employee frequently must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and regularly lift 20-50 pounds.
Travel
Travel will be required to on-site project locations in and out of CTC service areas and CTC partner's service areas. Travel is primarily during the business day, although out-of-area and overnight travel will be expected.
