Description
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide individual and group therapy and counseling and other related mental health services to individuals receiving services.
- Develop behavior support programs (BSPs) with written goals for individuals receiving services that promote self-control and growth through the development of appropriate replacement skills and behaviors. BSPs are a component of the Individuals Service Plan and must be approved by the Individual, Guardian, Family, Case Manager and ISC.
- Complete behavior assessments which include the identification, definition and functional analysis of displayed maladaptive behavior, the development of adaptive replacement behaviors, and the determination of behavioral objectives and goals.
- Design interventions for individuals receiving services, when appropriate, to prevent or minimize potential injuries to self and others.
- Ensure that each BSP is in compliance with current scientific, legal and ethical standards and with the current philosophies regarding services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Implementation of the BSP, including training of the direct care staff, and family in the individuals home and other natural environments to ensure they properly apply the interventions, understand the specific services and outcome for the participant being served, and know the procedures for regularly reporting participant progress.
- Provide guidance to management and direct care employees to ensure correct implement of the BSP.
- Develop modifications to improve the programs efficiency when necessary.
- Conduct in-service training programs designed to increase the behavior support and program development of staff.
- Monitor progress on at least a monthly basis and more frequently if needed to address issues with the individuals outcomes.
- Revise the BSPs as needed to ensure efficacy and prepare a progress report to the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) every six months.
- Participate in Behavior Management Committee and Human Rights committee meetings.
- Provide billable therapy and counseling services to external clientele at an average of 60% of work load, unless otherwise unable do so due to administrative or other duties assigned by supervisor.
- Complete comprehensive intake assessments according to DHS and CQL standards on a daily basis.
- Assess individuals to identify strengths and needs, services and/or natural supports to address identified habilitation, skills, and other life needs, individual preferences, gaps in the provision of services and/or barriers to programmatic, vocational and community success.
- Provide timely and accurate services and documentation according to both organizational, regulatory and accrediting agency standards, including but not limited to, billable hours, assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and correspondence regarding the individual
- Coordinate and advocate with other service providers in order to communicate information, assure ongoing eligibility, monitor progress, and assess needed changes to the plan of care.
- Maintain positive, collaborative relationships with other providers.
- Monitor the implementation of services identified in the plan and their responsiveness to the changing needs of the individual served.
- Provide crisis intervention services as needed.
- Requires travel to multiple locations (no more than 50)
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Approved DHS provider of 56U.
- Pursue professional staff development opportunities and ongoing continuing education to deliver best practices.
- Provide community educational programs.
- Provide outreach services.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Certification in Behavior analysis required (BCBA or BCaBA Certification)
- Bachelor's degree in Behavior Analyst or a related field. Master's Degree preferred.
- Basic user knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook,etc.), and/or other PC applications.
- Must have valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle for use on company business, auto insurance, and acceptable driving record.
