Overview :
We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst with a strong background in commercial loans , banking , and mainframe technical systems . The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in large-scale projects, be highly analytical, and possess the ability to work independently while providing leadership throughout project lifecycles. This is a critical role supporting ongoing initiatives in the commercial banking space, specifically with AFS System Level III or AFS Vision . The Business Analyst will work closely with a team in an Agile environment , driving projects forward and ensuring smooth execution. This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days onsite in Buffalo, NY.
Key Responsibilities :
Lead and manage large-scale commercial loan projects, providing business analysis and technical insights throughout the process.
Work independently with minimal supervision, driving tasks forward and taking ownership of initiatives from start to finish.
Analyze business needs and translate them into technical requirements, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on objectives.
Provide leadership within the team, guiding and mentoring colleagues while helping ensure effective project delivery.
Leverage expertise in AFS System Level III or AFS Vision to ensure smooth integration and operations.
Lead discussions and manage communication with stakeholders, making sure all parties are informed and aligned on project goals and timelines.
Collaborate within an Agile environment , actively contributing to sprints and iterations while maintaining focus on business objectives and timelines.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex business or technical issues that arise, offering actionable solutions that align with project goals.
Develop detailed business and system documentation to ensure all project deliverables are tracked and met in a timely manner.
Ensure that all activities are completed with attention to compliance and banking regulations.
Required Skills & Experience :
5 years of experience as a Business Analyst in the banking and commercial loans domain, with a proven track record of handling large, complex projects.
Deep knowledge and experience with AFS System Level III or AFS Vision , or similar banking / loan management systems.
Strong understanding of mainframe technical systems and how they integrate with commercial loan operations.
Leadership skills : Ability to lead and mentor a team, make decisions, and drive results with minimal supervision.
Strong business analytical skills and a strategic mindset with the ability to evaluate complex problems and propose effective solutions.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
Solid understanding of banking operations , especially commercial loan processing, and associated regulatory requirements.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders, including technical and business teams.
Ability to hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment, taking on leadership roles within the team and pushing projects to completion.
Preferred Qualifications :
Familiarity with mainframe systems as they relate to banking and commercial loans.
Experience in mentoring or coaching junior team members.
Prior experience working on projects involving AFS Vision or similar banking systems.
Understanding of banking compliance and regulations related to commercial loans .
