Job Overview
The 1st Shift Maintenance Supervisor -PSM at our Saginaw facilities will provide hands-on technical and professional leadership in establishing, refining and administration of equipment reliability and preventive maintenance programs for all equipment and building systems. The Maintenance Supervisor will assist with all maintenance activities to ensure maximum operational potential is realized for the entire plant operation. Oversee the PSM program to keep the plant in compliance and keep the plant audit ready.
Responsibilities
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
- Lead and develop Maintenance Technicians to maintain building and equipment to ensure optimal performance and reduction of planned and unplanned downtime.
- Daily communications with Production, Quality Assurance and Engineering to resolve technical and/or operational issues, assign resources to address various performance problems and coordinate the planning and scheduling of support activities.
- Continuous improvement and administration of training programs to develop skills and abilities of assigned staff.
- Coordination and supervision of outside contractors for projects and maintenance support activities.
- Participating in engineering improvement projects to current and future processes, including cost-reduction, manufacturability, functionality, and quality.
- Provide pro-active leadership ensure continued compliance with USDA, FDA, EPA, OSHA and GMP regulations.
- Promotes, adheres, and is responsible for Food Safety and Quality.
- Maintain and update engineering information (EI) documents (equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, etc.)
- Oversee PSM program for compliance and audit ready
- Upkeep of all environmental program/permits including air permits, SWPPP, X-Ray, Wastewater, Tier II, TCEQ, EDLR or any regulatory authority for the plants (soups/beans)
- Manage contractor related regulatory programs including fire suppression, PSM, refrigeration, boiler, wastewater, hazardous waste and elevator maintenance
- Write and submit all Capital Expense Requests (CER) as directed by the plant director(s) and maintenance manager.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged standing, sitting, walking, reading, writing, talking, use of computer.
- Hearing ability for verbal communication via telephone systems, and person – to –person.
- Clear, concise speaking ability to provide information and instruction.
- Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
- Manual and tactile dexterity for palpation, use of computer keyboard/typing, writing, handling/ sorting objects and forms.
- Flexibility and body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, standing, reaching, lifting and moving objects and equipment (approximately 50lbs. or), sitting.
- Able to meet physical demands of the job with assistive or adaptive devices or reasonable accommodations.
Qualifications
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or safety environment from an accredited college/university or equivalent experience with willingness to learn proven maintenance reliability concepts is preferred.
- 3-5 years related experience and/or training in planning, development, implementation of maintenance systems in a manufacturing facility. PSM regulations and compliance
- Experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Lead Manufacturing or Six Sigma preferred
- Skilled in presenting information or ideas concisely, accurately, and clearly verbally and in writing.
- Skilled in analyzing and documenting simple and complex business processes.
- Skilled in communication with a focus on listening and influencing skills.
- Ability to articulate complex issues clearly, respectfully, and simply to all parties.
- Ability to exercises appropriate judgment in decision-making and problem solving; seeks help promptly as necessary.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent work habits in line with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- Ability to demonstrate safe working habits
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work any shift, nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as necessary
Work Environment:
- Work is indoors and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours, and /or overtime hours, and/or occasional weekend hours on short notice.
- Exposure to environment temperature changes, hazardous/noxious fumes.
- Environment is noisy, involves frequent interruptions or distractions.
- Wearing of uniform or a specific style/type of clothing and jewelry/accessories limitations or restriction may be required.
- Local travel to duties may be performed at multiple sites.
