We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Acid Safety Coordinator to join our team at FMI Morenci In-pit Mine. The ideal candidate will establish and promote a safe, accident-free, and healthy work environment while adhering to strict safety protocols, MSHA, and FMCSA regulations.
Worksite Location: FMI Morenci In-pit Mine, Arizona
Annual Salary: $75,000 (depending on applicable experience)

Schedule Details:
- Schedule: 4 days on, 4 days off: 12hr shift on-site at Morenci In-Pit
- Shift: Currently seeking Night Shift; potential for day shift upon availability
- Meeting Site: Safford Terminal; commute in company vehicle to Morenci
Job Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License required; Class A Commercial Driver License preferred
- University program certificate or a minimum of two (2) years transportation-related experience/training.
- Two (2) years of experience in environmental and safety compliance, specifically with DOT, MSHA, OSHA, FMCSA, EPA, and PHMSA regulations
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
- Authorized access to Freeport McMoRan Inc. (FMI)
- Required to wear a respirator for certain tasks, which also requires that you are clean-shaven daily.
- Ability to travel up to 60% of the time.
- Work varying hours and schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays; occasionally stay overnight with short notice.
- Ability to work in an outdoor work environment and around equipment
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Project Specific Duties:
- Assist with drivers’ needs, safety events, and monitor driver behavior.
- Dedicate efforts to all safety-related tasks, processes, operations, etc., for the Morenci In-Pit Project.
- Oversee safety operations, inspections, observations, leadership, and support.
- Communicate safety-related incidents to the site Acid & Quality Management Supervisor as they occur.
- Conduct daily communication with the Acid & Quality Management Supervisor to review and enforce safety protocols.
- Observe loads operating on the mine and processing side per project guidelines, with weekly reports to the Acid & Quality Management Supervisor and Corporate Process Lead.
- Conduct daily observations at loadouts at every unloading site.
- Document observations and coaching.
Company Specific Duties:
- Comply with Federal, State, and local safety regulations.
- Instruct employees on company policies and penalties for rule infractions.
- Inspect facilities for potential accidents or health hazards and recommend corrective measures.
- Participate in accident and injury investigations.
- Respond to incidents, perform investigations, and write detailed reports.
- Maintain documentation of vehicle accidents, citations, certifications, and drug screens.
- Ensure drivers follow company rules and regulations during site visits.
- Participate in employee safety training.
- Be prepared for unexpected overnight assignments (up to 3 days of personal items).
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on tractor-trailer units.
- Record any defects on the Driver’s Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR).
- Maintain truck in safe operating condition per Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR).
- Adhere to grooming standards and dress code, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Foster positive customer relations and promote customer satisfaction.
- Maintain contact with managers to advise of problems or concerns.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:

- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) requirements:
PPE is required and must be worn in accordance with company policy and the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for each work site.
Acid operations are outside in the elements and require a chemical-resistant acid suit, rubber gloves, rubber boots, a full-face respirator, and any other required PPE to be worn at all times while in a “Hot Zone”.
Respirators: CTI employees are required to wear a full and/or half-mask respirator for any job task that requires a respirator. Respirators (PPE) are distributed by CTI and are used to protect employees from those occupational hazards caused by breathing contaminated air (harmful dust, fogs, fumes, mists, gases, smokes, sprays, or vapors). All CTI employees who are required to wear a respirator must be clean-shaven daily and in compliance with respirator protocols at all times.
