PURPOSE OF POSITION
The ISD Deputy Project Manager (DPM) collaborates with the Program Manager and a team of Instructional Designers, SMEs, and eLearning Developers. The ISD DPM will also collaborate with their peer, the Multi-Media (MM) DPM to ensure management of media teams are supporting the creation of highly interactive education products for a DoD client.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred, in education, instructional design, instructional technology, curriculum and instruction, educational psychology or other areas applicable to the position's description and needs.
Training and Experience:
Required Experience
- Six (6)-years of experience as a member of a courseware development team for a DoD-contracted project, preferably for the Naval Education and Training Command (NETC)
- Two (2) years of courseware development experience in a leadership role (Production Manager, Senior or Lead position as ISD, Lead Content Developer)
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Motivated self-starter comfortable directing a project effort in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to manage staff and direct project teams in support of project deliverables
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with clients and other team members both verbally and in writing.
- Must possess experience managing contracts, having been responsible for personnel assignments, managing contractual deliverables, and providing status reports as delineated by contract
- Demonstrated ability and judgment in handling, resolving, and communicating technical issues with customers and internal stakeholders using strong analytical and communication skills
- Prior leadership experience with all aspects of ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation) on a DoD or USN courseware development project
- Experience with USN training product standards, Instructional Systems Design processes, and governing DoD and industry directives
- Proficiency in interpreting and applying customer-provided style guides to ensure alignment with brand voice and standards. Experience with the NETC guide and Chicago Manual of Style in written content creation preferred.
- Courseware development experience with MELD, AIM CPM/LOM, Adobe Captivate, or similar commercial or proprietary CWD tools
General Skills:
Must be able to prioritize tasks, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be highly organized, ability to handle multiple tasks, have high analytical ability, be detail-oriented, and work under little to no supervision.
Security Clearance:
- Must be able to obtain a CAC card and security clearance if required by contract.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, direct, and manage project and team through entire ADDIE process from project start to completion
- Responsible for the overall performance of the project, deliverables, and supporting team
- Responsible for the team’s integration into the prime (as required) contractor’s schedule
- Effectively communicate with upper management and the prime (as required) contractor’s program manager
- Plan, schedule, track, and communicate project timelines, milestones, and deliverables using appropriate tools
- Proactively manage risks and develop action plans to mitigate risks
- Oversee team travel to DoD schoolhouses and facilities, including personal travel as required
- Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBLITY
General supervision, management, and hiring of project team members.
