What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laborer/Shop Assistant-Gary, Indiana position at CTTech (010)?
Job Functions/Task:
- Clean (sweep/wipe down/remove trash) in all areas of workshop/service bays, outer storage buildings, and throughout trailer staging lot and fence line.
- Assist Shop Supervisors in any daily operational tasks within the workshop (ex. guiding trailers into maintenance bays).
- Assist Trailer Technicians as needed (ex. retrieving repair parts from parts storage room, lifting/holding trailer parts during a repair process, retrieving larger shop equipment from storage locations, cleaning service bay upon completion of a repair job).
- Assist Parts Supervisor as needed (ex. organizing repair parts storage locations, moving/organizing newly delivered repair parts, removing packing/debris from new parts deliveries, parts inventories).
- Drive company parts truck to off-site vendors to pick up new parts as needed.
- Assist Front Office Supervisor (ex. conducting daily trailer staging area “Lot Check”)
- Assist with snow removal in the winter months (ex. driving company pick-up truck with snow plow, shovel, dispense salt)
- Operate bobcat and payloader for snow removal (when trained)
- Assist in maintaining machinery and heavy equipment (cleaning, maintaining proper fluid levels, maintaining proper tire pressure levels)
- Assist in maintaining proper storage, inventory and accountability of hazardous materials (proper training of this will be conducted).
- Be on-call to assist in all areas of the company’s daily operations as needed.
Skills:
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to lift objects weighing 50-80 pounds.
- Ability to conduct physical activity that involves lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling/stooping/crouching/reaching/handling.
- Ability to learn how to drive/operate heavy equipment (ex. forklift, scissor lift, pick-up truck, Yard Horse, bobcat, payloader)
- Possession of valid driver’s license and good driving record a strong plus
