This person will assist the Manager in all functions of Operations Technology systems including trouble shooting and fixing equipment on-board transit buses.LOCATION : This position will be physically based in the Hartford Division, but will service all 3 Divisions. Examples of Duties Maintenance and Monitoring : Responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of the Operations Technology systems such as fare collection systems, radios, tablets, CAD / AVL systems, passenger counters, announcement systems, real-time prediction, and related software systems.Database Troubleshooting : Troubleshoots system database and data integrity issues. General database administration experience is required.ITS Equipment Support : Provides level 1 and level 2 ITS support for maintaining onboard ITS equipment, including Routers, IVLU, and APC Counters.Operations Technology Application Support : Provides level 1 and level 2 IT support for transit industry enterprise application helpdesk requests (including emergency afterhours / weekend support as assigned).Documentation and Knowledge Base : Continuously improves and updates the Enterprise Systems SharePoint site and Knowledge Base Documentation.Standardization : Promotes standardization across divisions in the utilization of enterprise application systems.Farebox and Servers : Work with Maintenance and Finance to resolve any issues related to the farebox.Office 365 Administration : Assists in the administration of the Microsoft Office 365 production suite of products for the Operations Technology group.Supplier and Partner Relations : Acts as the primary technical contact for key software suppliers and partners.Technical Documentation : Develops, implements, and manages comprehensive technical documentation used by all IT staff to support CTtransit needs related to ridership and operational performance troubleshooting.Data Analysis : Runs weekly reports on ridership and operational data to identify possible faulty ITS equipment or programming.Data Liaison : Serves as a liaison for requests for operations data for external and internal inquiries.Vendor Data Monitoring : Monitors outside vendor data reliability and assists in troubleshooting APC, Router, and other data-related issues.Qualifications : The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with an excellent work ethic. Must possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy.Professional Development : Attends in-service training, seminars, or other opportunities for professional development as made available by CTtransit. Provides training for CTtransit personnel as required. Actively participates in staff meetings, trainings, etc.Bonus Experience : Experience with the creation and support of Transit Real-Time Feed is a plus.Additional Software Experience : Experience with Trapeze - Vontas software application support is also a plus.Assists other departments and divisions as assigned. Other Duties : Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Education : Minimum possession of a bachelor's degree or technical education certifications in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Network Administration, Cyber Security, Data Analytics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of relevant work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and work experience on a year for year basis can be substituted for the 4-year degree requirement. Technical school education and / or relevant work experience may be considered. Specialized training in transit-industry computer applications may substitute for a portion of the work experience requirement.Microsoft Office 365 : Experience with the installation and configuration of Microsoft Office 365 software products.Technical Skills : Knowledge and experience with MS SQL, Power BI, Crystal Reports, and interfacing with Office desktop applications.Driver's License : Must hold a valid driver's license and have the ability to maintain insurance coverage through our insurance company throughout employment. Travel may be required as part of the daily work.Software Proficiency : Proficiency in various software programs, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database administration, as well as internet applications. The ability to quickly learn internal software programs.Communication and Interpersonal Skills : Strong ability to prioritize projects and possess excellent communication skills, particularly verbal communication. Must have strong interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy, along with the ability to handle potentially challenging support situations. Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
