Position Summary

The Accounting Services Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Earnings Edge Accounting Services team, ensuring efficient daily operations by setting clear goals, delegating tasks effectively, closely monitoring performance, providing constructive feedback, offering training, and ultimately driving the team to achieve departmental and organizational objectives while adhering to company guidelines.

In addition, the Accounting Services Manager is responsible for supporting CU*Answers client teams and CU*Answers credit union clients in the area of Finance, Accounting and Backoffice. This position works closely with newly converting credit unions on investments and subsidiaries, budgeting, back office and CFO support. They also act as a consultant to existing Credit Unions in these same areas. In this role this individual recommends enhancements and features to our software that will enhance the client experience and keep pace with new regulation. Furthermore, they provide QC assistance for these products and features and support the various CMS team members to deliver and support them as the expert.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all employees on the Earning Edge Account Services team including but not limited to coaching, mentoring, developing, hiring, firing, disciplining, motivating, performance reviews, training, goal setting, payroll processing, staff budgeting, and other administrative tasks.
  • Provide day-to-day management to the Earnings Edge Accounting Services team to ensure timely and accurate processing and reporting of all conversion / merger back-office support engagements.
  • Plans and evaluates department policies, processes, priorities, and performance goals to ensure the department is on track to meet personal and organizational expectations.
  • Motivates direct reports by providing positive feedback, coaching and skills development. Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations and planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Schedule and lead “Accounting Conversations On” sessions and/or other training events as needed to supplement and support products and servicing offerings.
  • Provide client Budget and/or 5300 consultative services as requested.
  • Provide Accounting support for Participation Lending as needed.
  • Evaluate priority of client requests and use the ‘Call Escalation Policy’ to ensure that critical issues are communicated and resolved. Complete follow-up as necessary.
  • Document work, processes, and procedures to assist with education of team members and to build a knowledge base to be used both internally and by external clients.
  • Maintain a positive contribution as a member of the CMS Team and complete all tasks assigned by management to meet team objectives.
  • Participate in driving accounting related initiatives in conjunction with the Earnings Edge team.
  • Actively sell CMS products and services.
  • Contribute to Sales process by facilitating demonstrations, and fulfillment of RFP’s.
  • Acts as a liaison with senior level management and other department managers by developing productive, collaborative relationships and utilizing clear and effective communication.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all procedures and policies for all functions within the department.

Job Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent is required.
  • Four-year degree in accounting or finance and/or 2 years of work-related experience is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to deal with external clients as well as internal staff.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience and aptitude using Microsoft application software (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required.
  • Ability to use discretion when dealing with sensitive or confidential data.
  • Experience and skill in managing, directing and developing people.
  • Extensive experience in general accounting procedures, including setting up and maintaining computerized accounting records.
  • Knowledge of Excel and Word software preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and projects and meet deadlines.
  • Thoroughness, excellent attention to detail; ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%-50%.
  • Valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record is required.
  • Self-directed and able to take initiative.
