We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Surveyor to support a large-scale horizontal infrastructure project. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in land surveying, with a strong focus on Right-of-Way (ROW) Acquisition for infrastructure projects. As a consultant managing this large infrastructure initiative, the Surveyor will be responsible for conducting precise surveying activities, ensuring accurate mapping and measurements, and supporting the acquisition of land rights for the project. The role will require a strong understanding of land surveying, ROW processes, and project documentation, ensuring the success of the infrastructure project while maintaining compliance with legal, regulatory, and technical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Surveying and Mapping:
- Conduct Field Surveys:
- Perform land surveys for horizontal infrastructure projects, including roads, utilities, grading, and drainage systems, ensuring the accuracy of all measurements and data.
- Utilize GPS, Total Stations, and other modern surveying equipment to obtain precise data.
- Prepare topographical, boundary, ALTA/NSPS, and other survey types to support the design and construction phases of the project.
- Coordinate field survey activities with project teams, ensuring all required data is collected accurately and on time.
- Prepare Survey Plans and Reports:
- Produce detailed survey drawings, maps, and reports, ensuring that they meet project specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in creating as-built surveys and ensure proper documentation for final project deliverables.
- Work with engineers and designers to incorporate survey data into project designs, ensuring alignment with site conditions and legal boundaries.
Right-of-Way (ROW) Acquisition:
- ROW Mapping and Documentation:
- Support the ROW acquisition process by providing detailed mapping and survey data to identify property boundaries, easements, and land ownership for infrastructure development.
- Work closely with legal teams, landowners, and project stakeholders to assess land requirements for the project.
- Prepare ROW drawings, legal descriptions, and acquisition plats to facilitate landowner negotiations and formal property transactions.
- Stakeholder Coordination:
- Coordinate with local authorities, landowners, and government agencies to ensure compliance with ROW acquisition procedures and legal requirements.
- Assist with identifying affected properties and landowners, ensuring timely acquisition of necessary land rights for the project.
- Provide technical support and assistance during ROW negotiations, helping clarify surveying-related matters to stakeholders and clients.
- ROW Risk and Compliance:
- Identify and address potential ROW-related issues or conflicts that may arise during the project, such as encroachments or disputes over land ownership.
- Ensure all ROW acquisition processes are compliant with local, state, and federal regulations, maintaining proper documentation for legal and project purposes.
- Work with project management and legal teams to resolve any ROW-related challenges and delays.
Collaboration and Project Support:
- Cross-Disciplinary Coordination:
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, planners, and other stakeholders to integrate survey data into the overall project plan.
- Assist in coordinating survey-related activities to ensure that the project is on schedule and within scope.
- Provide guidance and support to junior surveyors or survey teams on project-specific requirements and procedures.
- Technical Support and Guidance:
- Offer technical expertise on surveying methods, equipment, and standards to ensure high-quality data collection and analysis.
- Participate in project meetings, providing input on surveying progress and challenges, and offering solutions to overcome obstacles.
- Assist in the review of design plans and alignments to ensure survey accuracy and project feasibility.
Quality Control and Reporting:
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure the accuracy and consistency of survey data through regular quality checks and validation of field measurements.
- Review and validate survey results to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure survey records, drawings, and documents are properly archived and accessible for future reference.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of all surveys, measurements, ROW documents, and other project-related documentation.
- Prepare and submit timely progress reports on surveying activities, ROW acquisition status, and any issues or delays.
- Assist in preparing technical reports for regulatory authorities, stakeholders, and clients.
