Job Details :

Principal Systems Engineer to lead the integration and sustainment of the New Zealand National Ticketing System. This role involves overseeing system maintenance, providing technical leadership, managing projects, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the system's reliability and efficiency. The position also includes providing internal technical consultancy, hands-on systems management, leading technical presentations, and maintaining good relationships with stakeholders.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities :

To provide internal technical consultancy and be the technical reference point on project and technology related matters
To provide technical advice and leadership on issue investigation and correction approaches
To take the lead in technical presentations, discussions and workshops with customers
To maintain good relationships with Company staff, Customer representatives and other stakeholders
To provide engineering and technical review of technical / architecture / systems documents and work products
To liaise with customers on project requirements and requested variations
To define, develop, and coordinate the production of Solution Architecture and System Architecture artefacts
To define, develop, and coordinate the integration of complex system solutions.
To ensure project, development, and test teams are remain properly appraised of requirements and system solutions.
To ensure that solutions comply with appropriate standards and legislation

General Duties and Responsibilities :

Minimum Job Requirements : Qualifications

Essential :

Degree or equivalent in software or electrical engineering or related discipline

Desirable :

Post graduate study or equivalent in Systems Engineering or related area

ASEP / CSEP INCOSE Certification

TOGAF Certification

Skills / Experience / Knowledge

Essential :

8 years experience working in a software driven technology environment, preferably with AFC experience

3 years experience in dealing at customer interface level

Experience at a team level in development or technology integration teams.

Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycles using both Waterfall and Agile approaches

Ability to interpret technical requirements

Knowledge of relevant engineering standards and relevant “Health and Safety” legislative requirements

Experience of working in a formal project structure following ISO 9001 processes

Desirable :

Knowledge of embedded devices and technology, and complex engineered IT system solutions.

Ticketing and automated fare collection, intelligent transport systems, or similar applications involving large networks of unattended / passenger-operated devices

Familiar with financial systems and accounting principals

Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering and systems engineering best practices

Experience with DOORS, Sparx Enterprise Architect, Jira and Confluence

Worked with NFC, contactless smartcards, credit card personalization bureaus, payment systems and retail networks

Familiar with standards such as ISO / IEC / IEE 15288, ISO 17185, ISO 27001 and PCI

Ability to liaise effectively with project teams, operations teams, project managers and the Customer

Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing, with good presentation skills

Commercially aware and able to protect Cubic’s business interests while striving to deliver superior products and services

Ability to learn and be a system reference expert

Excellent system level understanding

Aware of software development best practice and able to apply standards and procedures effectively

High level problem solving skills

Ability to occasionally travel both intrastate and overseas

The ability to work well under pressure in a variety of situations

Possesses a methodical and structured approach to the definition of problems and solutions.

High-level problem-solving skills and systems thinking, able to explain and work through complex problems with teams, project managers and the Customer.
