  • Location: Remote N.VA, remote MD, remote near Belvoir, VA, remote near Redstone Arsenal, AL, or remote near Aberdeen, DE
  • Travel: Up to 50%

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Technical Pre-Sales & Customer Engagement
    • Partner with Business Development / Sales team to understand customer needs and translate them into tailored technical solutions.
    • Conduct live demonstrations, develop proof of concepts (POCs), and workshops to showcase our solutions.
    • Work closely with IC and DoD customers technical representatives and management on issues with high impact, to determine and interpret customer requirements, whiteboard solutions, integrate components, and align our technology with mission requirements.
    • Recommends application and/or modification of Company solutions to satisfy customer requirements.
    • Assists communications and public relations department in preparing display and promotional material.
    • Fosters formal networks with key decision makers and widely recognized as expert and thought leader by both internal and external community. Can serve as external spokesperson for the organization.
  • Solution Design & Architecture
    • Design and propose scalable, secure, and mission-ready solutions based on Cubic’s portfolio.
    • Applies extensive knowledge of theories, practices, and design matters in collaboration with engineering and product teams to ensure customer feedback drives roadmap development.
    • Develop technical documentation, whitepapers, and system architectures to support proposals and implementations.
    • Implements solutions that requires a longer-term view which impacts strategic goals and objectives. Addresses future concepts and products.
  • Competitive & Industry Expertise
    • Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor offerings in AI/ML, geospatial intelligence, and full-motion video.
    • Advise internal teams on how to position our solutions effectively in a competitive market.
    • Improves competitive position by recommending new applications of solutions, providing information on the technical development of systems and assisting in program planning.
    • Keeps track of potential sales opportunities and marketing efforts of competitor firms.
  • New Business Support
    • Identifies “new” business opportunities.
    • Provides input for accurate and realistic bookings forecast estimates.
    • Develops and maintains contacts with customers.
    • Develops and maintains program descriptions, and capture plans.
    • Advises management on bid/no bid decisions, multi-company teaming decisions, solution design, pricing strategy, supplemental staffing, and other issues affecting probability of winning contracts.
    • Work closely with the strategy and business development group, develops marketing information used for new business proposals, solution specifications, statements of work and systems requirements, participates in the preparation of the strategic plan.
    • Manages discretionary resources.
  • Bid & Proposal Support
    • Contribute to RFP responses, technical statements of work (SOWs), and system requirements for large government contracts.
    • Provide insights on solution feasibility, pricing considerations, and technical differentiators.
Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree, in engineering, management, or marketing, and/or the combined equivalent of experience and education.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • 5 years in a Solutions Engineer, Pre-Sales Engineer, or similar role in defense, intelligence, or enterprise software.
    • Strong experience with AI/ML, geospatial intelligence, full-motion video, or related technologies.
    • Familiarity with cloud architectures, security protocols, and DoD IT environments

  • Customer-Facing & Communication Skills:
    • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, mission-relevant solutions.
    • Experience engaging with DoD, Army, or intelligence customers is a huge plus.
    • Strong presentation, proposal writing, and negotiation skills with a keen business and technical awareness.

  • Additional Qualifications:
    • Requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 12 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 8 years experience; or equivalent experience.
    • Secret Clearance required; ability to obtain Top Secret.
    • Willingness to travel up to 50% for customer meetings, demos, and industry events.
    • IC/DoD/Military experience is desired.
    • Previous experience in securing large contracts.
    • Serves as an expert in the field and principal advisor.
    • Ability to prioritize work, complete multiple tasks and work under deadlines.
    • Ability to perform analytical work.
    • Must be self-motivated, creative and have the ability to work closely in a team environment with other departments and individuals at all levels in the organization.
    • Exercises wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments.
    • May be required to travel domestically and work off hours, in-line with customer requirements.
Cubic Pay Range:

$211,917 – $250,000 benefits.

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.

  • Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographic market up to our highest geographic market.
