Job Summary
Community and family early literacy initiative to prepare children to be Pre-K and Kindergarten ready and focus on the gap between home and school. Literacy Coaches would provide an early learning program to promote early literacy activities, parent and family education and engagement, staff dialogic reading training, and early literacy interventions for students who are below level for oral language, vocabulary, and phonological awareness in the fall assessments to assist them in preparing for Kindergarten at grade level in literacy.
This will be a full-time experienced Literacy Coach who will also coordinate and act as a liaison between the regular school day and library after school programming. The Literacy Coaches will coordinate with the Project Director, campus principal, and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction. The Literacy Coaches will provide a literacy summer program and will also provide leadership and coaching to district staff to implement early literacy practices grounded in the science of reading.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teachers to design and implement effective literacy curricula that meet the diverse needs of students.
- Provide professional development workshops focused on literacy instruction and best practices.
- Assess student literacy levels and develop targeted intervention strategies to support struggling readers.
- Support the integration of library services into classroom instruction to enhance student engagement with texts.
- Work with educators to create instructional materials that align with curriculum standards.
- Advocate for literacy initiatives within the school community and engage families in supporting their children's literacy development.
- Stay informed about current research and trends in literacy education, childhood development, and early childhood education.
Skills
- Strong background in curriculum development and instructional design related to literacy education.
- Knowledge of library services and how they can be utilized to support reading initiatives.
- Understanding of childhood development principles, particularly as they relate to early childhood education.
- Experience working with children
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey ideas and strategies to educators and families.
- Passion for educating students and promoting lifelong learning through literacy.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
