Primary Purpose:
Performs office/clerical duties for the special education department as instructed by the Director of Special Education.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Bilingual a plus.
- Proficient word processing and data entry skills
- Working knowledge of basic office procedures.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of general office equipment.
- Ability to work well with campus staff.
- Ability to work well with parents/guardians.
- Ability to remain calm in a stressful situation.
Experience:
- Minimum of three years clerical experience.
- Computer skills.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Familiar with Child Find process.
- Experience with ECI referral process.
- Experience with contacting outside agencies regarding unenrolled students.
- Assists in entering student data into the Success Ed.
- Sets up, maintains and records all special education student information under the direction of the assessment specialists/speech staff.
- Maintains current special education eligibility folders by updating information each time there is an ARD, parent correspondence or a Full Individual Evaluation Report (FIE) is reviewed.
- Gathers information from all Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee (ARD) meetings and proofs for completion of all parts.
- Demonstrates dependability and punctuality by exercising regular attendance and promptness.
- Maintains professional ethics and exercises self-control over actions and words with students, parents, and staff members.
- Adheres to federal, state and local policies and procedures related to special education issues.
- Maintains confidentiality of student records.
- Follows district and building policies.
- Performs related duties requested by the director, assessment staff, and program manager.
