Individuals assigned to this classification will perform engineering calculations and must be able to layout and design systems in accordance with established policies, standards and procedures, but must exercise judgment in their application with minimal supervision.
A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and minimum 6 years of experience is required. EIT preferable.
Or
An associate degree with minimum 8 years’ experience in the design of Electrical systems under the supervision of a Professional Engineer required.
Or
8-10 years of practical experience in Electrical fields is preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, able to handle stressful situations and multi-tasking, able to work under time constraints, long hours may be required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Work Environment
Must be able to handle stressful situations, multi-tasking, and working within reasonable time constraints to meet production schedules and budgets. Will work in normal office environment and may also be required to work outside of a normal office from time-to-time.

- Individuals should be able to apply practical knowledge and experience in their field to resolve problems and conflicts related to the projects assigned to them. Individuals should be capable of independent decision-making for engineering tasks on the projects assigned to them.
- Individuals may occasionally supervise subordinate personnel, or assist other engineers or designers.

Responsibilities
- Attends preliminary job meetings and helps evaluate scope of work performed.
- Independently prepares or directs preparation of system layout, detail drawings,
- schematics and specifications with minimum supervision.
- Performs calculations and design engineering systems.
- Provides technical information and assistance to project engineer or team leader. Makes recommendations as to the feasibility of certain systems or equipment and evaluate products for their application.
- Assists final plan checking.
- Respond to RFI’s.
- Respond to code comments and resolve permit issues with code officials/AHJ.
- Assists in resolving construction conflicts and answers questions from contractors and bidders.
- Coordinate design work with other disciplines.
- Contact various public utility company personnel to coordinate mechanical and electrical utilities for a project.
- Review shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications.
- Performs job site inspections and is responsible for thorough and competent field installations that meets the plans and specifications.
- Completes project “punch list” and assists in resolving any conflicts between owner and contractor.
- Mentor Engineering Designers I and II.
- Ability to meet fast-paced deadlines while maintaining quality design.
- Respond to RFI’s and submittals.
- Additional duties as required.

- Proficient in PDF manipulation.
- Researching and writing reports/opinions.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.
