What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Specialist position at Culimer USA LLC?
Role Function:
The central focus of duties will include end to end ownership of our shipping and fulfillment process: Engaging with vendors to ship using optimal mode, Documentation review, US Customs preparation, Ongoing logistics tracking, Import & clearance on arrival, and Drayage to warehouse. Concurrent with this will be quantifying customer demand, document compliance and actioning our Incoming Quality Assurance protocols in partnership with the QA & Food Safety Team.
Outside of the routine, you will develop innovative improvements in all aspects of the position from technology to putting proposals together for better freight rates.
Logistics Specialist will partner proactively with all departments in the company to deliver our premium products safely and efficiently.

The responsibility begins with getting a great product that is compliant (QA) from origin (Purchasing) to destination (Customer Success) in a timely manner and within budget (Business Development).

Monitor import shipments from the time you are given a PO at the vendor until they arrive at the point of final destination. Including working with various vendors to book ocean shipments and take ownership of our freight function.
Conduct root cause analysis for logistics-related issues to develop effective solutions, implement planned corrective measures and escalate appropriately to maintain product viability.
Making special shipping arrangements as necessary
Implement process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and reducing costs.
Oversee the preparation of the U.S. Customs import documentation and work with a Customs House broker for smooth and accurate clearance.
Collaborate with our Customer Service teams to identify opportunities, source pipeline, and develop strategic account plans including for new products
Track customer demand and partner with the Purchasing Manager to build our supply and demand plan
Collaborate with warehouse teams to ensure shipments are accurately and promptly delivered
Collaborate with QA Department for documentation verification and compliance
Research new technologies and trends
Maintain and monitor inventory levels of products in storage facilities to ensure adequate inventory on hand to maintain operational requirements
Any other ad hoc tasks as and when required and instructed by the Purchasing Manager
Working experience of Imports & Customs Compliance and regulations (at least 2 years’ experience)
3 years experience within Supply Chain, experience in sea freight, logistics or haulage (preferred)
High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or a related field (preferred)
Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement.
Critical thinking skills to make decisions on how to handle customer complaints and how to improve processes for unexpected situations
Able to work collaboratively with other internal and external stakeholders in a fast dynamic work environment
Highly organized, detail oriented with excellent time management skills
Proficiency with Google Workplace, inventory management software (Zoho), ERP, distribution management systemsLogisti
