We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Risk Manager to oversee risk management activities for a portfolio of 60 restaurants across the United States. This critical leadership role will ensure that our restaurants operate safely, compliantly, and financially responsibly while mitigating potential risks that could impact our employees, customers, or brand reputation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Risk Assessment & Mitigation
Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive risk management program across all restaurant locations.
Conduct regular risk assessments to identify, evaluate, and mitigate operational, financial, compliance, and safety risks.
Analyze incident trends and recommend proactive measures to reduce future risks.
2. Compliance & Legal
Ensure all restaurants adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, health and safety, and labor laws.
Partner with legal and compliance teams to address regulatory changes and ensure consistent policy updates across locations.
Manage and oversee the claims process, including workers' compensation, general liability, and property damage.
3. Safety & Crisis Management
Develop and implement safety training programs for restaurant staff, emphasizing prevention and incident response.
Lead crisis management efforts, including natural disasters, cyber incidents, and food safety issues.
Act as the primary liaison for insurance providers, ensuring optimal coverage and swift resolution of claims.
4. Financial Oversight
Manage the risk management budget and optimize spending on insurance, training, and other mitigation strategies.
Track and report on key risk-related metrics and cost-control initiatives to senior leadership.
Provide strategic input on contractual agreements to mitigate liability exposure.
5. Leadership & Collaboration
Partner with restaurant management teams to build a culture of safety and risk awareness.
Serve as a key advisor to the executive leadership team on emerging risks and mitigation strategies.
Oversee third-party vendors, including safety consultants and claims administrators.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field a plus
Minimum of 5 years of experience in risk management, preferably in the multi-unit restaurant or retail industry.
Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, insurance policies, and claims management processes.
Proven leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams and working in a geographically dispersed environment.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Working knowledge of Cal-OSHA / OSHA safety programs
Ability to travel
Ability to speak and write fluently in Spanish strongly desired.
