Description
The Catering Supervisor holds the crucial responsibility of supervising multiple aspects of catering events, which can include the set-up and breakdown, food preparation, cooking, and distribution. The Catering Supervisor will play a role in establishing and overseeing department policies and standard operating procedures.
· Provide a quality dining experience that exceeds customer expectations.
· Produce, prepare, and cook hot and cold foods including soups, sauces, salads, specials, entrees,
catering, and other food items determined by the supervisor.
· Performing basic food preparation tasks, which include washing, peeling, and cutting fruit and vegetables, seasoning and slicing meats, and preparing sauces and salads.
· Setting up dining, buffet or catering areas as per the catering Food Service Director’s instructions.
· Ensuring all pull sheets are properly filled with the proper signage, utensils, cutlery, cups plates and tablecloths per instructions, chafing dishes should be properly cleaned and sanitized before each catering event.
· Taking inventory of ingredients and catering supplies and requesting additional stock as required.
· Set-up and breakdown of all events to include food, tableware, and catering supplies needed for each event.
· Appropriately storing clean chafing dishes, tableware, platters, and equipment after each catering event as well as keeping the catering storage areas in good order.
· Answering guests' catering-related questions during events and addressing all additional needs or complaints.
· Assisting in the development and implementation of marketing strategies to promote catering services.
· Follow all outlined Company, State, Federal and other applicable health and safety regulations with regard to foodservice, equipment use and personal hygiene.
· Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
- Certification: Serve Safe Certification and any other jurisdiction
certifications and formal courses in institutional cooking and food services sanitation desired - Experience: Experience in healthcare, contract or similar food service environment and documented formal
training in food service sanitation is preferred but not required.
