BIM Designer
Location : Addison, IL
Reporting To : Drafting Manager
Role Overview :
We are seeking a skilled BIM Designer to join our team in Addison, IL. This role involves creating detailed system designs using CAD and Revit software for customer projects. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in BIM modeling, coordination, and drafting, ensuring high-quality deliverables and project efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
BIM Design and Drafting : Develop and maintain accurate models in Revit and CAD, ensuring system designs meet customer specifications.
Model Coordination : Manage and coordinate Revit models across disciplines and perform clash detection to resolve conflicts.
Revit Family Management : Create, update, and modify Revit families as needed for projects.
Quality Assurance : Review designs for errors and constructability before finalizing and releasing.
Standardization : Follow and maintain standard workflows and checklists to ensure consistent quality and efficiency.
Communication and Reporting : Provide regular progress updates to supervisors and project teams.
Training and Improvement : Identify areas for improvement, suggest training opportunities, and contribute to refining internal processes.
Qualifications
Education :
Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field), Architecture, or a similar discipline.
Advanced degrees are preferred.
Experience :
Minimum of 2 years’ professional experience with Revit.
At least 2 years’ experience with Navisworks.
Familiarity with construction environments, particularly in the Structural or MEP industry, is a plus.
Technical Skills :
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
Knowledge of construction processes and overhead systems.
Ability to extract 3D model quantities and manage 4D scheduling using Navisworks.
Experience with Microsoft Office and BIM 360.
Soft Skills :
Strong verbal and written communication.
Capable of reviewing and adapting external files to fit project needs.
What Success Looks Like :
Within 3 Months :
Collaborate with project managers and team members to gather project-specific details.
Create BIM models using Revit and company product libraries.
Set up linked models for interdisciplinary coordination. Within 6 Months :
Independently manage BIM projects from initiation to completion.
Perform clash detection and resolve coordination issues effectively.
Share knowledge about BIM best practices and software usage. Within 12 Months :
Provide BIM training to team members and new hires.
Establish and enforce company-wide BIM standards and best practices.
Continuously improve productivity and processes within the BIM team.
Salary : $85,000
