Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Product Certification Safety - Electrical Engineer in Lake Forest, CA. The work will be done onsite. This is a long term contract. It can lead to permanent employment with our customer. Compensation is up to $90k / yr W2 including benefits, vision, dental, health insurance, 401K and holiday pay. Cullerton Group will provide sponsorship.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in safety certification testing for electrical products , particularly within the medical device industry . This role involves performing verification and validation (V&V) testing , ensuring compliance with global safety standards , and collaborating with R&D teams, external labs, and regulatory bodies . The candidate should have strong technical writing skills, attention to detail , and the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively in formal reports and presentations.
Core Responsibilities :
Conduct safety certification test assessments throughout the development lifecycle , providing critical input to R&D teams to guide product development.
Plan, execute, and communicate periodic status updates and risk assessments to project teams, offering proposed solutions for identified risks.
Perform safety testing of products in both internal and external laboratories .
Prepare documentation for safety certification activities , including Isolation Diagrams, Dielectric and Leakage Current Testing, and Construction Evaluations using IEC-generated test report forms .
Collaborate with internal / external labs, technicians, and design engineers to ensure timely, cost-effective testing and certification .
Ensure full execution of required testing and review activities for product compliance, including pre-verification test rehearsals to mitigate risks before product launches.
Document and execute V&V tests in compliance with medical device QSR and ISO 13485 , preparing detailed Safety Verification Test Plans and Test Reports .
Communicate complex technical concepts through presentations and reports (technical writing skills will be evaluated during the interview).
Plan and execute safety testing for electrical equipment certification to meet global regulatory requirements .
Ensure compliance with product safety testing requirements and procedures per industry standards and internal QMS , including verification of production-equivalent test samples .
Maintain and calibrate safety testing equipment , providing technical guidance on certification requirements to external labs.
Apply ISO 14971 Risk Management principles to ensure medical device product safety compliance and / or accredited test lab operations .
Demonstrate strong familiarity with EMC test planning and procedures , particularly IEC 60601-1-2 and associated test methodologies.
