Responsibilities:
- Manages and oversees the daily opening, closing, and operations of CWAC and WildWater aquatics.
- Identifies, maintains, and coordinates the efficient scheduling of appropriate staffing levels for the facility.
- Working with Executive Director, identifies and implements seasonal facility goals, in support of CPRST's organizational goals.
- Manages personnel actions and supports staff recruiting, hiring, and training and development.
- Ensures the maintenance of required certifications for all Aquatics staff, including this position.
- Directs and manages supervision team, ensuring the efficient application of salaried labor; develops supervision team in people management and leadership skills.
- Hosts all-staff meetings, providing pertinent information in a timely and organized fashion.
- Manages the operations of the Cullman Swim and Dive teams.
- Working with the Executive Director, develops and manages the Aquatics Department annual budget.
- Manages facility cashflow in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Oversees and assumes responsibility for facility cash handling practices, ensuring appropriate staff training and compliance with CPRST's Fiscal Policies and Procedures.
- Ensures compliance with purchasing regulations and creates bids for capital expenditures, as needed.
- Evaluates programs and products for effectiveness and relevancy; using market research, manages team's development and implementation of new program/product ideas.
- Makes data-informed decisions to implement additional revenue streams.
- Continuously evaluates and improves upon aquatics programs, ensuring member needs are being met and participation levels are responding accordingly.
- Communicates in a professional manner, effectively relaying information to persons in all levels of the organization, volunteers, other agencies, and the public.
- Manages the regulation and maintenance of all aquatics chemicals, pools/spas, etc.
- Working with supervision team, creates and implements employee training program focused on delivering consistent, excellent patron experience.
- Keeping customer service as a priority, focuses on continuously improving patron experience by soliciting feedback (consumer surveys/interactions) and implementing needed changes.
- Identifies opportunities to further improve upon products/programs and manages the communication and implementation of changes.
- Working with Executive Director, identifies needed policy/procedure changes and manages the communication and implementation of changes.
- Uses data to identify attendance and purchasing trends to aid in labor and inventory optimization.
- Monitors weather conditions and trends related to weather, with the goal of staffing appropriately and evacuating the park efficiently, as needed.
- Working closely with Marketing team, develops campaigns to increase sales and plans accordingly.
- Regularly provides to the Marketing team information needed to maintain social media profiles and websites with the most current information.
- Identifies amenities that differentiate WildWater and aims to showcase those attributes.
- Manages change and utilizes critical/creative thinking strategies to continuously improve facility operations.
- Works closely with supervision team to optimize and maintain inventory of consumables, products, and maintenance supplies.
- Coordinates the disposal of surplus property, as needed.
- Provides effective and efficient customer service and promotes and maintains responsive community relations.
- Acts as a team member with other Parks and Recreation Administrators, embracing and supporting the vision and mission of the Cullman Parks and Recreation Board of Directors and the City of Cullman.
- Establishes and maintains sound business and financial procedures in accordance with Federal and State laws, and CPRST system policies.
- Exhibits a high level of professionalism and ethics, working amicably with the Park Board, the Executive Director, Administrators, Personnel, and Community.
- Exhibits proficiency in written and oral communication.
- Works a minimum of a 40-hour work week, which will seasonally include nights, weekends, and some holidays, with hours varying based on time of year, events, and projects.
- Attends all meetings as required by the Executive Director.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management strongly preferred.
- Minimum of five years professional experience in general and/or operations management.
- Within 6 months of employment, must be able to obtain and maintan the following certifications: Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO), Certified Pool/Spa Operator (CPO), Lifeguard Instructor (LGI), Water Safety Instructor (WSI).
- CPRP certificaation preferred.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
- Must meet Park Board employment and physical standards, which include background check as well as drug and alcohol screening.
- Experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and aptitude to perform the defined duties.
Working Environment:
Assigned work areas are both indoors and outdoors. Work requires this position to routinely be outside in various weather conditions, with occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions.
Physical Demands:
Must be in fit physical shape and able to frequently walk, climb, swim, and work in the sun for extended periods of time. Must be able to routinely lift fifty pounds without assistance. Required to pass physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the Executive Director.
