Description
The Clinical Documentation Specialist (“CDS”) initiates and performs documentation of inpatient records to clarify conditions, diagnoses, and procedures. This position provides liaison and communicates with medical staff to provide complete and accurate inpatient records. Works with coders to confirm provisional and final DRG assignments. Will review and develop process improvement and “best practices” for HIM. Responsible for creating audit review and documentation practices in compliance with regulatory agencies.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- 3 to 5 years ED or CCU Nursing experience or a minimum of 2 years RN/Coding experience. BSN preferred
- RHIA, RHIT or CCS certification(s) with minimum of 2 years’ experience
- Ability to work well with physicians and staff
- Strong computer skills
