A Sheet Metal Superintendent oversees the installation, maintenance, and fabrication of sheet metal systems in construction and manufacturing environments. Below is a typical job description for this position : Cullum Constructors, Inc. is a leading provider of commercial mechanical design build, new construction and renovation services. Cullum was founded in 1972 and is licensed in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. The corporate office is located in North Charleston, SC and also operates a sheet metal fabrication shop as well as a pipe fabrication shop.
The Superintendent is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and supervising the mechanical portion of the construction project (sheet metal, plumbing, piping and HVAC) as well as sub-contractors under our contract. The Superintendent is responsible for the profitability and quality of the field side of the project including but not limited to performance of our craftsmen, equipment, and tools used, and safety and personnel.
Qualifications :
- 8-10 years of experience in the mechanical construction field with a strong emphasis in at least one craft.
- Extensive general knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, piping, controls, insulation, fire protection, and test and balance with a good general knowledge of building construction.
Duties :
Plan, schedule, coordinate and supervise the work of our craft people and our subcontractors.Hires, terminates, directs and trains the field personnel as needed and maintains the necessary manpower levels and rates to meet the schedules and insure profitability.Requests and secures the tools and equipment needed for the project and sees that it is maintained while on his project.Creates and maintains a safe project for our personnel and our subcontractor’s personnelKnows codes, OSHA standards and laws in the area where the project is performed.Reads, maintains, and understands the contract documents including but not limited to our contract, our subcontracts, plans, specifications, addenda, RFI’s, etc. and stays within the parameters of the contract.Assures that all forms, field documentation, daily reports, weekly safety meetings, time-sheets, etc. are filled out promptly and properly and forwarded to its proper location.Maintains and creates a “team attitude” by evaluating, encouraging, training, addressing problems or grievances with personal and ensuring that all are treated equally and fairly.Field coordinates within the confines of the contract and maintains a good relationship with general contractor, architect, engineer, subcontractors and owner.Notify office of material, equipment, or other needs in ample time to secure.Work closely with Project Manager to attain early resolution to problems involving changes to the contract (change orders), manpower, productivity, material and equipment deliveries, etc.Maintain good working relationship with all departments of the company (fabrication shop, accounting, purchasing, drafting, management, etc.)Assure that the field operation conforms in accordance with company plans, policies and guidelines.Perform additional duties as assigned by company management.Identify and assist upcoming potential supervisors.Meet with foreman daily and involve them in the planning of the work.Benefits :
