What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift - Final Inspection Lead position at Culp, Inc.?
Position Summary: The 2nd shift Inspection Lead Person assists Inspection Supervisor in the direction of activities assigned Inspectors, Packagers, and related decisions that occur during the shift. This position performs final inspection and grading of finished fabrics, including roll-up and identification, in an efficient and safe manner.
Position Responsibilities:
- Oversees the moving of A-frame or rolls of fabric to the inspection machines.
- Checks work order cards to insure all processes have been completed prior to inspection.
- Checks piece tickets to insure proper cloth identification by Inspectors.
- Checks piece tickets to insure proper cloth identification by Packagers.
- Assists with quality concerns encountered by Inspectors (notify manager for assistance.)
- Reviews daily priority list and directs which lots should be run.
- Helps maintain standards in the Inspection Department.
- Helps maintain tickets for lots going through Inspection Department.
- Assists with monthly inventory.
- Uses computer for pack-out procedures.
- Communicates any special information to incoming shift.
- Assures all patterns are inspected according to standard operation procedures.
- Ensures empty A-frames and buggies to staging area.
- Notifies shift supervisor of any unsafe or hazardous situations.
- Assures all swatches are cut in proper length for lab and properly identified.
- Assures that all non-conforming products are handled according to standard operating procedures and staged in proper locations.
- Assists with training of new Inspectors and Inspection Service Associates.
- Maintains a neat and organized department and assures department remains so for incoming shift.
- Follows all safety procedures and policies and advises supervisor of any unsafe conditions.
- Any other duties as requested by manager.
Role Qualifications/Essential Skills and Experience:
- Associate should possess general knowledge of inspection and show proficiency in the operation and proper use of inspection frame, scissors, ticket printer and forklift, fabric, paper tubes, tickets, printer ribbons and masking tape.
