What are the responsibilities and job description for the Knit Exit End Operator position at Culp, Inc.?
General purpose: To work as part of the Knit Finishing team to produce quality fabric as
efficiently as possible.
Position responsibilities:
- Read sop before each lot is started. Notify entrance operator if fabric deviates from sop.
- Under the heading “to inspect”, write the number of the trucks that fabric is being folded
into on the work order paperwork.
- At the beginning of each lot place a truck under the folder. Push full trucks to the
designated area in inspection.
- Inspect the fabric for defects, loft, and hand notify the machine operator of problems.
Record any continues defect in the work order.
- Lay the fabric over the edge of the truck to measure. Measure the fabric width within the
first 20 yards of the lot. Make adjustments until the proper width is achieved. Record the width on the work order paperwork. Measure the fabric again in the middle and end of the lot.
- Machine upkeep: All rollers free from grease and strings, blow down machine, sweep
floors, inspect chain for missing or loose pin plates.
- Cut sample at roll doff size and punch weight, record information on work order.
Notify entrance end operator of weight.
- Responsible for fabric quality, frame efficiency and housekeeping.
- Responsible for passing information on to the operator of the following shift.
- Follows all safety procedures and policies and advises supervision of any unsafe
conditions.
- Any other duties as requested by supervisor
- All positions will take direction from the machine operator or lead person.
