Shelter Advocate (Swing Shift)

Accountability:

Accountable to the Menlo Park Program Manager

Duties/Responsibilities:

●        Completes required trainings within 30 days of hire (CPR, Blood borne pathogens, food handlers, etc.)

●        Has a working knowledge of programs, services, and community resources.

●        Builds trust and respect with Villagers and staff through consistent honesty and professionalism in all interactions.

●        Responsible for knowing and following policies and procedures, including program, agency, and building specific policies.

●        Responsible for knowing and following procedures in emergencies and critical incidents.

●        Responsible to maintain accurate logs, shift reports, and participant records, both manually and using web-based program.

●        Assists Villagers with making appointments when needed.

●        Performs rounds of facility regularly during shift.

●        Monitoring the client's behavior, schedule, and activities.

●        Responsible for clearly communicating breaks and lunches with team on shift.

●        Maintains assigned station during scheduled rotation as directed or as needed.

●        Helps keep Village clean and organized, as needed.

●        Responsible for cleaning up biohazards using appropriate personal protective equipment.

●        Builds and maintains neighbor/community satisfaction with the services offered.

●        Maintains composure in highly stressful or adverse situations.

●        Conducts self within appropriate expected professional boundaries and policies.

●        Maintains confidentiality of Villagers and staff.

●        Attends all assigned trainings and meetings unless otherwise approved. 

●        May participate in special projects and activities.

●        Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.

●        Represent Cultivate Initiatives to various stakeholders and community partners.

Qualifications:

• Being physically present at the SRV for the duration of given shift.
• Ability to reliably show up on time and stay for duration of shift.
• Basic computer skills and ability to utilize mobile apps
• Must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or religious exemption.

Preferred Qualifications:

●        Previous shelter or peer support experience.

●        HMIS data entry experience

●        Valid Driver’s License

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:

·         Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all types of weather.

·         Ability to work in environments with varying noise levels, from quiet offices to louder, industrial settings.

·         Work requires the ability to perform cleaning duties requiring the full range of body movement.

·         Ability to occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
