What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shelter Advocate (Swing Shift) position at Cultivate Initiatives?

Accountability:
Accountable to the Menlo Park Program Manager
Duties/Responsibilities:
â Completes required trainings within 30 days of hire (CPR, Blood borne pathogens, food handlers, etc.)
â Has a working knowledge of programs, services, and community resources.
â Builds trust and respect with Villagers and staff through consistent honesty and professionalism in all interactions.
â Responsible for knowing and following policies and procedures, including program, agency, and building specific policies.
â Responsible for knowing and following procedures in emergencies and critical incidents.
â Responsible to maintain accurate logs, shift reports, and participant records, both manually and using web-based program.
â Assists Villagers with making appointments when needed.
â Performs rounds of facility regularly during shift.
â Monitoring the client's behavior, schedule, and activities.
â Responsible for clearly communicating breaks and lunches with team on shift.
â Maintains assigned station during scheduled rotation as directed or as needed.
â Helps keep Village clean and organized, as needed.
â Responsible for cleaning up biohazards using appropriate personal protective equipment.
â Builds and maintains neighbor/community satisfaction with the services offered.
â Maintains composure in highly stressful or adverse situations.
â Conducts self within appropriate expected professional boundaries and policies.
â Maintains confidentiality of Villagers and staff.
â Attends all assigned trainings and meetings unless otherwise approved.
â May participate in special projects and activities.
â Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
â Represent Cultivate Initiatives to various stakeholders and community partners.
Qualifications:
- Being physically present at the SRV for the duration of given shift.
- Ability to reliably show up on time and stay for duration of shift.
- Basic computer skills and ability to utilize mobile apps
- Must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or religious exemption.
Preferred Qualifications:
â Previous shelter or peer support experience.
â HMIS data entry experience
â Valid Driver’s License
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:
· Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all types of weather.
· Ability to work in environments with varying noise levels, from quiet offices to louder, industrial settings.
· Work requires the ability to perform cleaning duties requiring the full range of body movement.
· Ability to occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
