Position Summary:
The Shelter Lead is a non-exempt position working with Menlo Park Village staff to provide outstanding support and services to those living at Menlo Park Village. We are looking to fill a swing shift position, Sunday - Thursday 3:30p-12am, with at least two shifts a week from 5p-1:30a to work with overnight crew.
Compensation and Benefits:
Full-time, non-exempt rate of $26.00/hour

Accountability:
Accountable to the Menlo Park Program Manager
Works Directly With:
Menlo Park staff, villagers, and volunteers
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Completes required trainings within 30 days of hire (CPR, Blood borne pathogens, food handlers, etc.)
- Values working in an environment with diverse participants and perspectives.
- Has a strong understanding of organizational programs, services, and community resources.
- Participates in quality assurance of program’s services and evaluates processes to improve delivery of services.
- Responsible for supporting the program manager in completing staff supervisions.
- Assists the Program Manager as needed.
- Familiar with crisis response and appropriate reporting.
- Responsible for knowing and following procedures in emergencies and critical incidents.
- Performs intakes and exits of Village neighbors.
- May help lead regular Village meetings.
- Ability to flex schedule to help prepare and attend all trainings and staff meetings.
- Ensures rounds of facility regularly during shift.
- Supports other staff in monitoring client's behavior, schedule, and activities.
- Builds and maintains neighbor/community satisfaction with the services offered.
- Maintains composure in highly stressful or adverse situations.
- Conducts self within appropriate expected professional boundaries and policies.
- Maintains confidentiality of Villagers and staff.
- Attends all assigned trainings and meetings unless otherwise approved.
- May participate in special projects and activities.
- Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
- Represent Cultivate Initiatives to various stakeholders and community partners.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent time management skills.
- Strong ability to problem solve and make independent judgements.
- Experience with database systems and the ability to train others.
- Being physically present at the SRV for the duration of given shift.
- Ability to reliably show up on time and stay for duration of shift.
- Must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or religious exemption.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous shelter or peer support experience.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Understanding of Housing First and Harm Reduction models.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all types of weather.
- Ability to work in environments with varying noise levels, from quiet offices to louder, industrial settings.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Work requires the ability to perform repetitive movements of the wrist, hands, or fingers due to continuous use of computer keyboards and other office equipment.
- Being physically present in the CI offices from 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday - Friday
- Must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or religious exemption
