Employment Type : Temporary; Hourly

Compensation : $24 per hour; $45 per diem. Single occupancy lodging provided for overnight stays during the work week and weekend.

Cultural Resource Analysts, Inc. (CRA) is seeking qualified candidates for temporary field technicians to work on an upcoming project in Oklahoma that will be performed during 2 fieldwork sessions, from October 18 - 27, and October 30 - November 3, 2023. Additional opportunities in the region may be available upon the completion of this project. These are part-time, hourly positions.

Job Description and Responsibilities :

  • The Field Technician position is under the direction of Staff Archaeologists and Principal Investigators.
  • The project is an archaeological shovel testing survey.
  • Duties will include pedestrian and shovel testing reconnaissance, screening, and bagging archaeological artifacts.

Qualifications :

  • One year of experience as a field technician, the completion of an archaeological field school, and certification as a Registered Archaeologist (or meet the requirements) are preferred.
  • Ability to work in a variety of field conditions, and to navigate efficiently in remote areas are required.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, lift heavy objects, work while standing, and do general manual labor such as digging and sifting.
  • Must be physically fit and able to walk / hike in rough and / or sloped terrain in variable weather conditions. A normal workday will be eight hours, but must be able and willing to work ten to twelve hour days (or longer) if necessary, in a variety of conditions.
  • Must possess problem solving skills to identify problems, develop and evaluate options, and implement solutions. Must be able to follow directions and work independently as needed.
