RESPONSIBILITIES: The Facilities Maintenance Assistant's responsibilities involve inspecting Campus Systems, which include HVAC equipment, pumps, condensers, compressors, and electrical and domestic water services. They start up, regulate, and shut down equipment. They ensure that the equipment operates safely, economically, and within limits by monitoring meters, gauges, and computerized controls. They watch and listen to machinery and routinely check safety devices, record data in logs, and identify potential problems. They are ready and motivated to learn new job skills through on-the-job training (OJT) and professional training classes.
REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must possess a High School Diploma or HSE, and a valid Driver's License. Applicants must be willing to work indoors and out and tolerate working in confined spaces with uncomfortable temperature variations. Work may be strenuous. Applicants must possess the physical capability to access various locations on campus, which involves walking and climbing stairs, and must lift and move up to 50 pounds. Strong technical writing, verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are required, and applicants must be computer proficient.
