What are the responsibilities and job description for the Occupational Therapist (Temporary) position at Culver City Unified?
DEFINITION OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Special Education or designee, providing direct and indirect service to special needs students in order to improve functional skills as it relates to school tasks and develop appropriate coping behavior through the use of purposeful activity; intervention is provided in the student's academic environment and may include integrated service in the classroom, pullout sessions, observation, monitoring and consultation to the team and caretakers.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

•Assists in the identification/screening of students who are at risk because of education, physical or mental limitations;
•Assists in the development of the assessment request process and written procedures;
•Completes the educationally related or early intervention occupational therapy assessment, which includes student observation, record review, interviews, standardized/non-standardized testing procedures in areas of suspected disability according to specific timelines;
•Prepares an assessment report according to specified guidelines;
•Participates as a member of the IEP, IFSP or 504 team in the determination of appropriate treatment; develops long and short term goals and objectives;
•Develops and implements a therapy intervention plan designed to enable the student to benefit from special education; may be conducted on an individual or group basis in the least restrictive environment/setting;
•Keep clean and maintain treatment space, materials, toys, equipment and other treatment supplies; develops and implements training opportunities and in-services for other educational staff, parents, and administrators;
•Remains current with approaches, methodology and research in the field to foster professional growth and educationally related practices;
•Perform activities required to plan, develop, implement and evaluate the school occupational therapy program in conjunction with pupil services administration;
•Coordinates student caseloads and assignments.
•Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and experience:
Bachelors degree, certification/registration by NBCOT; at least one year pediatric experience, sensory integration treatment experience preferred.
Knowledge of:
Familiarity and experience in sensory integration and standard treatments within the occupational therapy field.
Ability to:
To lift or assist physically handicapped students
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Environment:
Work is performed indoors and outdoors where some safety considerations exist due to physical effort. May experience frequent interruptions; may be required to shift tasks and priorities; required to deal with a wide range of student behaviors; required to deal with a wide range of physical and emotional disabilities; may occasionally deal with distraught or difficult students.
Physical Demands:
Requires: ability to function effectively in classroom and office environments, engaged in work of a moderately active nature; ambulatory ability to move to various class and meeting room settings, to stoop, bend and kneel, and to reach; hand-arm motion ability and coordination to assist others with physical movements; hand-eye-arm coordination ability to use special diagnostic devices in a personal computer keyboard to access and record information; visual ability to recognize words, numbers, and non-verbal actions of people; auditory ability to project voice and carry out conversations with individuals and small groups in person and over the phone. Potentially exposed to ordinary infectious diseases carried by students; exposed to student noise levels.
Salary : $8,955 - $10,865
