QUALIFICATIONS & DESCRIPTION
- Possession of a valid California Special Education Credential including Autism authorization and CLAD/English Language Learner certification or equivalent is required.
- A Master’s degree in Special Education or closely related field is preferred.
- A valid California Driver’s License and the use of an insured automobile is required.
- Experience as a certificated special education teacher or specialist/closely related professional discipline with a minimum of 5 years successful experience.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws
- and regulations pertaining to special education.
- Experience and expertise in the following areas: IEP meeting facilitation, conflict resolution strategies and procedures and team building methods and techniques.
- Knowledge of behavioral management strategies or techniques.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; organizational skills and flexibility.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent mental and physical health standards.
- Under the supervision of the Director of Special Education and the Coordinator of Special Education, the Program Specialist provides specialized curriculum leadership, assesses special education program effectiveness, and provides staff development and in service training for special education teachers, classified special education staff and parents of special education students.
- Serve as administrative designee at individualized education program (IEP) team meetings and/or serve as a member of the IEP team.
- Oversee the appropriate implementation of IEP’s.
- Respond to parent needs and concerns and interface with staff to resolve specific programmatic issues.
- Meet with site special education teams to discuss program effectiveness.
- Assists teachers in interpreting statutory regulations related to special education programs.
- Provides assistance to new and current special education classroom teachers in order to improve the effectiveness of the special education programs.

- program development across all levels from Infant to Adult Transition.
Salary : $60,904 - $120,579
